Indonesia is a Southeast Asian country with the 4th largest population in the world, approximately 274 million people as of December 2020. It is also a multi-ethnic nation in the Southeast Asia region, with Islam being the predominant religion. Indonesia is known as the 'Archipelago Nation,' with 13,487 islands. The country’s diversity is reflected in its 300 ethnic groups, each having its own distinct cultural characteristics, and these groups are spread across different islands. Indonesia's vast archipelago is a major factor in the development of its tourism industry. The country ranks 15th in the world by land area, covering 1.9 million square kilometers.


2. Pakistan
Pakistan is the 5th most populous country in the world, with a population of 223 million people as of December 2020, and is home to 50 different ethnic groups. The country has a rich and diverse culture, and is also known for having one of the largest populations of migrants globally. Despite its large population, Pakistan ranks only 33rd in terms of land area, covering 881,912 square kilometers, which includes Azad Kashmir and disputed northern regions with India.
Pakistan has the second-largest Shia Muslim population in the world. It is the only nuclear-powered Muslim-majority country. As a member of the Commonwealth, Next Eleven economies, and the D8, Pakistan is still developing and faces challenges such as illiteracy and poverty. Currently, the services sector dominates its economy, making up 53% of its economic activity.


3. Brazil

In recent years, Nigeria has been progressing, driven by its strong oil industry. It is a key player in the global oil sector and is on track to become the most developed economy in Africa. Nigeria covers an area of 923,768 square kilometers, ranking 31st in the world by land area.


5. Bangladesh
Bangladesh, home to the third-largest Muslim population in the world, ranks 8th globally in total population, with approximately 165 million people (as of December 2020). Despite its small land area, which ranks 93rd in the world, Bangladesh faces a significant population density. The majority of its population is Bengali (98%), with the remaining consisting of migrants from other regions.
Bangladesh has made remarkable progress in human development, particularly in improving education and gender equality. However, despite both domestic and international efforts to boost its economic and demographic outlook, Bangladesh remains a country with significant underdevelopment and overcrowding.


6. Russia
Russia ranks 9th in terms of population, with a population of 145 million people (as of December 2020). However, its land area is the largest in the world. Russia consists of over 83 federal subjects, and 80% of its population resides in urban areas, resulting in a low population density with uneven distribution between cities and rural areas.
Officially known as the Russian Federation, Russia is a federal republic located in the northern part of the Eurasian continent. Russia is a member of global organizations such as the G20, G8, APEC, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and holds a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council. Additionally, Russia is a country renowned for its technological achievements and rich artistic heritage.


7. Mexico
Mexico has surpassed Japan, claiming the 10th position among the world's most populous countries, with a population of 129 million people (as of December 2020). This nation is home to some of the most densely populated urban areas worldwide. Mexico ranks 13th globally in terms of land area, covering 1.96 million square kilometers. The country is known for its diverse natural landscapes and rich culture, which blends traditional indigenous heritage with Spanish influences. It also holds the distinction of having the highest number of Spanish speakers globally, with Roman Catholicism being the predominant religion.
The economy of Mexico operates as a mixed-market economy and is classified as an upper-middle-income nation. It is the 15th largest economy in the world and boasts one of the highest per capita incomes in Latin America, although it still lags behind the economies of North America.


8. China
China holds the title of the most populous country in the world, with a population of 1.44 billion people (as of December 2020). It currently holds the record for the largest population globally. From an economic perspective, China boasts a vast market, an abundant labor force, and these factors contribute significantly to its robust economy. China is governed by the Communist Party, with its capital in Beijing. The country is home to two world-renowned rivers: the Yangtze River and the Yellow River.
China has a coastline that stretches 14,500 kilometers. As one of the oldest civilizations, China has a rich cultural heritage that spans thousands of years. Within its 1.44 billion people, the Han ethnic group makes up 90%, while the remaining 10% includes groups such as Tibetans and Hui Muslims. With an area of nearly 9.6 million square kilometers, China ranks 4th in the world in terms of land area.


9. India
India is a country rich in cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity, and it currently ranks as the second most populous nation with a population of 1.41 billion people as of December 2020. The country is renowned for its ancient Indus Valley civilization, which its people have carefully preserved and developed for over 5,000 years. India thrives in the service industry and holds the position as one of the largest potential markets for economic investment, being the world’s second-largest consumer market. It also ranks third in global purchasing power and has a robust economy, making it a rising industrial power.
However, India is currently facing significant environmental challenges, including agricultural land degradation, the depletion of natural resources, and increasing pollution. Policies to protect and improve the environment are urgently needed. India is also home to many captivating tourist destinations such as the ancient streets of Delhi and the stunning Hawa Mahal palace.


10. United States
The United States consists of 50 states, with a population of 331 million people as of December 2020, making it the third most populous country in the world. Not only is the U.S. the third most populous, but it is also the most ethnically diverse nation globally. Additionally, the United States ranks third in total land area. It is a culturally and ethnically diverse country, home to the Western cultural tradition inherited from European immigrants.
The national sport of the United States is baseball, a sport officially recognized since the late 19th century. When thinking about the U.S., one cannot ignore its advancements in both economics and nuclear weaponry. It is also known for its strictest visa requirements for entry.
