In late December 2023, a special and romantic wedding was hosted aboard the historic train on the 7km-long Da Lat - Trai Mat route (Da Lat city, Lam Dong province).
What makes a wedding on a historic train so special?
The groom, a railway worker stationed at Da Lat station, wanted to celebrate his most meaningful day aboard the train that had been a part of his life and work for many years.
The train was decorated like a wedding carriage, starting its journey from Da Lat station to Trai Mat and back. This event marks the beginning of a new initiative for the railway industry to offer wedding services aboard the historic Da Lat - Trai Mat train in the future. When passengers request it, the company will arrange and decorate the train for such events.
Information about the historic Da Lat – Trai Mat train route
Ga Đà Lạt operates and manages the shortest railway line in Vietnam, currently only 7km long. This route serves tourists traveling from downtown Đà Lạt to Trại Mát. It is also the only remaining section of the Phan Rang Tháp Chàm – Đà Lạt cogwheel railway from the past.
To celebrate the 130th anniversary of Đà Lạt City, Vietnam Railway Corporation has organized several activities to welcome tourists visiting Đà Lạt Station and taking the Đà Lạt – Trại Mát old train. This includes the installation of free Wi-Fi, providing complimentary drinks on board, and offering free photography services for passengers at the station and on the train.
Notably, the Đà Lạt – Trại Mát old train now features live music performances by professional violin and guitar artists, providing free entertainment for passengers aboard the train.
