Malaysia Airlines, the flag carrier of Malaysia, boasts an extensive domestic and international flight network, offering excellent service quality along with enticing promotional programs. In the following article, let’s take a closer look at some of the key baggage policies for both carry-on and checked luggage with the airline, as provided by Mytour.

Have you familiarized yourself with the carry-on and checked baggage regulations on your Malaysia Airlines flight?
The carry-on and checked baggage policies of Malaysia Airlines are determined based on the class of service. Currently, the airline offers three main classes: Suite Class, Business Class, and Economy Class.
CARRY-ON BAGGAGE
Malaysia Airlines has specific carry-on baggage rules for each class of service, as detailed below:
- Regarding weight:
+ Economy Class: You are allowed to carry 1 piece of hand luggage with a total weight of up to 7kg (15lbs).
+ Business Class: You are permitted to carry 2 pieces of hand luggage, with a combined weight limit of 14kg (31lbs).
+ Suite Class: You are allowed to carry 2 pieces of hand luggage, with a total weight limit of 14kg (31lbs).
- Regarding dimensions: For all classes, the approved hand luggage must not exceed dimensions of 36x23x56 cm (length x width x height), with a total size not exceeding 155cm.
In addition to the free hand luggage allowance, passengers can bring one of the following personal items free of charge (Option A, B, or C). All combined items must fit within the weight limit for hand luggage specified above for each class of service:
A. One of the following items:
- 1 briefcase,
- 1 handbag (for men/women),
- 1 tablet or laptop bag, OR
- 1 small camera bag.
B. For passengers traveling with an infant, in all cases, you are allowed to bring one of the following items free of charge in addition to the personal items mentioned in section A:
- 1 baby care bag (containing baby food for in-flight use and diapers for the entire flight) with a maximum weight of 5kg,
- 1 small infant carrycot, OR
- 1 lightweight, foldable child stroller designed for use in the aircraft cabin.
C. Other items that may be carried free of charge include:
- 1 duty-free shopping bag for items purchased at the airport on the day of your flight.
- 1 pair of crutches or a walking stick, OR 1 outer jacket.
CHECKED LUGGAGE
- Regarding luggage weight:
+ Business Class / Suite Class: You are permitted to check in luggage with a maximum weight of 32kg (approximately 70lbs).
+ Economy Class: You are allowed to check in luggage with a maximum weight of 23kg.
- Regarding luggage dimensions: Each checked baggage item must not exceed 158cm (approximately 62 inches) in total dimensions. Items exceeding this size may be considered oversized, and additional fees may apply.
Note: If requested, Malaysia is happy to transport any personal medical equipment such as wheelchairs, walking aids, or infant care items like strollers, car seats, bassinets, or playpens at no extra charge. This service is available to all ticketed passengers.
