Mũi Đại Lãnh and Bãi Môn, located side by side at the easternmost point of Vietnam, make Bãi Môn Phú Yên the earliest beach in the country to greet the morning sun.
The scenic area of Mũi Đại Lãnh – Bãi Môn

Mũi Đại Lãnh, also known as Mũi Điện or Cap Varella (a name given by the French), is home to Bãi Môn Phú Yên, the only beach at its base. This area lies within Hoà Tâm commune, Đông Hoà district, Phú Yên province. From Tuy Hoà city, travel 15km south on National Highway 1A to Đông Hoà, then turn left onto a local road and head southeast for 20km to reach Bãi Môn. From here, a 500m mountain trail leads to Mũi Đại Lãnh.

After discovering Mũi Đại Lãnh, the French constructed a lighthouse here to guide ships navigating the sea and entering Vũng Rô Bay. Damaged during wartime, the lighthouse was rebuilt in 1995 by the Vietnam Maritime Administration. Beyond its maritime significance, the lighthouse stands as an architectural masterpiece, enhancing the natural beauty of the area.

The beauty of Bãi Môn
Adjacent to Mũi Đại Lãnh lies Bãi Môn Phú Yên, a beach nestled between two headlands: Mũi Nạy to the north and Mũi Đại Lãnh to the south. At the base of these headlands, rocky formations are stacked together, featuring medium-sized stones perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view. To the west of Bãi Môn lies a pristine forest, while a small bay opens to the East Sea in front. Stretching over 400 meters, Bãi Môn boasts untouched natural beauty.

The sand here is white, clean, and fine, with a flat beach terrain that slopes gently into the sea. The water is clear and blue, with gentle waves. A unique feature is a freshwater stream that flows year-round, originating from the springs of Bắc Đèo Cả forest. After winding through cliffs and forest canopies, the stream crosses Bãi Môn before meeting the sea. With its ideal beach conditions and natural features, Bãi Môn is a perfect spot for swimming.

Beyond swimming, this beach is a destination for witnessing the first sunrise of the day. There are two ways to be among the earliest to greet the dawn: arriving before sunrise or camping overnight on the sand. The area lacks residential homes and services, so visitors should bring their own supplies. Bãi Môn Phú Yên is busiest on weekends, but its tranquility and seclusion enhance its charm.
