The inaugural flight from Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) to Melbourne (Australia) took off at 1:58 AM on February 19, 2022, from Tan Son Nhat International Airport, bringing passengers to the beautiful land of kangaroos.
The initial frequency of the flights is expected to be 2 round trips per week. This will gradually increase to 4 flights per week, depending on market demand. Additionally, the airline is considering launching a regular direct flight connecting Hanoi with Melbourne.
The direct flight route by Bamboo Airways will shorten the travel time between Vietnam and Australia to just over 8 hours, saving up to 8 hours compared to connecting flights.

Entry Requirements for Passengers Flying to Australia
A. Who is eligible to enter Australia
1. Individuals with a valid visa for Australia who have received the full COVID-19 vaccination will be allowed to enter without needing a travel exemption.
2. Individuals who have not been fully vaccinated must apply for a travel exemption in order to enter Australia.
B. COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination Requirements
1. COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate:
- If the passenger has completed the full vaccination regimen in Australia, they must present the International COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate (ICVC). The ICVC certificate, in PDF format, can either be printed as a hard copy or saved as an electronic version on the passenger's phone.
- If the passenger has completed the full vaccination regimen abroad and does not have an ICVC, they must present a Foreign Vaccination Certificate issued by the foreign country, meeting the requirements outlined on the Australian Passport Office website. Passengers can provide either a printed or electronic version of the certificate.

You need to be aware of the entry regulations set by the authorities when entering Australia
- Children are not required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination if they meet the following conditions:
+ Australian citizens aged 11 and under (based on the date of birth information in the passport).
+ All children under the age of 12 years and 3 months (based on the date of birth information in the passport).
- If a passenger is unable to be vaccinated for medical reasons, they must provide acceptable proof:
+ If the passenger arrives in Australia with a medical contraindication recorded in the Australian Immunization Register (AIR), they must present their Australian COVID-19 Digital Certificate to the airline staff. Passengers can also provide their vaccination history.
+ If the passenger does not have a medical contraindication recorded in the AIR, they must present a medical certificate to the airline staff stating that they are unable to receive the COVID-19 vaccine due to health reasons.
Note: Having previously contracted COVID-19 is not considered a medical contraindication for COVID-19 vaccination and will not be accepted as a valid reason for vaccination exemption when traveling to Australia.
2. COVID-19 Test Results:
- A negative COVID-19 PCR test result taken within 3 days prior to departure, or
- A negative COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test result taken under the supervision of a healthcare professional within 24 hours before the scheduled departure to Australia.
C. Online Health Declaration Requirement by the Australian Government
- All passengers traveling to Australia must complete the Digital Passenger Declaration (DPD) at least 72 hours before departure at: https://covid19.homeaffairs.gov.au/digital-passenger....
- Passengers can submit the DPD up to 7 days before the flight and must successfully submit it at least 72 hours prior to their scheduled departure to Australia.
D. Airport Requirements
Passengers must be prepared to present the following documents to airline staff:
- Proof that the passenger meets Australia's definition of full vaccination or proof that the passenger is unable to be vaccinated for medical reasons as previously mentioned.
- A negative COVID-19 test result certificate.
- Any documents related to the approval of an exemption for entry into Australia (if applicable).
- Provide a valid visa (if applicable).
- Standard travel documents, including passport, entry declaration, and customs form.
- Documentation proving that the passenger has provided important health information, including contact details in Australia, vaccination status declaration, and travel history within the 14 days prior. This is done through the DPD form, which must be submitted before departure as mentioned above.
- Procedures and documents regarding the passenger's approved quarantine agreements (if applicable).
