Among the various tourist spots in Nghe An, this stone church stands out as an iconic landmark that leaves a strong impression on many visitors. Not only does it carry historical and spiritual significance, but it is also a well-known tourist destination that attracts travelers from far and wide.
The History of Bảo Nham Stone Church
According to historical records, in the past, a French priest named Adolphe Klinglé came to the Yên Thành area (Nghe An) to spread the faith. He chose a location with a large number of followers to build Bảo Nham Stone Church, ultimately selecting Xóm Tràm in Bảo Thành Commune. This unique religious structure was officially started in 1888 and completed in 1904.

Exterior Design of the Church
Bảo Nham Stone Church covers an area of over 7,000 square meters. Built in the Luoxo church style, it features French Gothic architecture. The main material used for the church is stone, sourced from the Lam Sơn mountains in Thanh Hóa. The church's façade is designed with pointed arch windows that form a continuous connection from the base to the top. In front of the church is a spacious yard with numerous trees planted.

The church is 37 meters long and 14 meters wide. The outer stone walls are divided into sections, each featuring an arched window. Notably, the roofline is adorned with 24 stone towers, intricately carved. In front of the church are two entrance gates, each topped with finely carved stone lions.
The bell tower is one of the most striking features of the church. At the top of the tower is a weather vane shaped like a rooster that turns with the wind. Made from an antimony alloy, the tower houses three bronze bells weighing 800kg, 400kg, and 180kg. These bells were a gift from the younger sister of Father Adolphe Klinglé after the church's completion.

Interior of the Church

Inside the church, the vaulted ceiling exudes an air of solemnity and tranquility. The large stone blocks used to create this ceiling were meticulously carved and assembled through various stages to ensure both durability and aesthetic beauty. Additionally, the stained glass windows depict religious scenes in vivid colors, and when sunlight passes through, the artwork sparkles, enhancing the mystical atmosphere of the space.
