Introduction to Sky Sofa
Sky Sofa is a service offering two additional empty seats beside you, creating a more comfortable, convenient, and private seating arrangement in the Economy class. This product is currently available exclusively on flights from San Francisco (USA) to Ho Chi Minh City.
Applicable Audience
This service is available for passengers who have purchased a Flexible Economy or Standard Economy ticket on flights from San Francisco to Ho Chi Minh City operated by Vietnam Airlines.
Note:
- For safety reasons, Vietnam Airlines will assign the most convenient and appropriate seat. Passengers are kindly requested not to select seats in advance.
- Sky Sofa is not available for passengers traveling with young children, as children must be seated in positions with oxygen masks.
How to purchase the Sky Sofa service
- Passengers can purchase the Sky Sofa service during the online booking process on the website/mobile app or at the ticket office, or through Vietnam Airlines agents.
- If you already have a ticket and wish to purchase the service, please visit the Vietnam Airlines website/mobile app, select the "Manage Booking" section, enter your details, and follow the instructions.
What is the fee for the Sky Sofa service according to Vietnam Airlines?
The Sky Sofa fee varies depending on the ticket class and the time the service is purchased. Passengers can refer to the following fee structure:
- Flexible Economy Class: 500 USD per passenger
- Standard Economy Class: 600 USD per passenger
Service Changes and Refunds
Service Changes
- If passengers voluntarily change their flight date:
+ The passenger's ticket will be adjusted according to the fare conditions;
+ Sky Sofa can be transferred to the same service class on a new flight, provided it is done at least 6 hours before the new flight's departure time;
- If Vietnam Airlines changes the flight schedule, the passenger's Sky Sofa service will be retained for the new flight.
Refunds
Vietnam Airlines will only accept refunds under the following two circumstances:
- If Vietnam Airlines changes the flight schedule;
- If the aircraft is unable to provide seating arrangements for the Sky Sofa service.
Passengers can request a refund for the service within 14 days after completing their final flight. The Sky Sofa refund will be processed at the point of service purchase:
- If the service was purchased via the website/app, please contact the Customer Care Center or email Vietnam Airlines.
- If the ticket was purchased through an agent or ticket office, please reach out to them directly.

To celebrate the new year and the launch of Sky Sofa, Vietnam Airlines is offering an exclusive promotional service fee of up to 400 USD (equivalent to 9,380,000 VND) for passengers purchasing Flexible Economy and Standard Economy tickets on the San Francisco – Ho Chi Minh City route from February 6th to February 20th, 2023.
