Hung Kings' Death Anniversary (Phu Tho)

The Hung Kings' Death Anniversary is an unmissable festival at the beginning of the year
In Vietnam, we have a well-known verse: “No matter where you go, remember the Hung Kings' Death Anniversary on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month.” This verse has been passed down through countless generations of Vietnamese people. Every year, during the first days of the 3rd lunar month, people from all over the country, and even Vietnamese citizens living abroad, feel a deep connection to their ancestral land. Some travel long distances to step onto the steps of the Hung Temple, hoping to offer a heartfelt prayer for a peaceful and prosperous year ahead. For those who can't attend the festival in person, they still light incense on their ancestor's altar to honor their heritage. This has undoubtedly become a cherished tradition for every Vietnamese child.
Ba Thien Hau Temple Festival (Binh Duong)
Ba Thien Hau Temple is located at 04 Nguyen Du Street, Thu Dau Mot City, and Phu Chanh Ward, Tay Uyen Town, within the new Binh Duong City area. While it may not host as many festivals as other places, Binh Duong is home to some very distinctive ones, with the Ba Thien Hau Festival held annually on the 15th day of the first lunar month being the most famous. On this day, people celebrate by parading the Ba's palanquin, drawing hundreds of local visitors as well as people from other provinces to join the pilgrimage. Interestingly, a large portion of participants in this festival are Vietnamese of Chinese descent from across the country.
Ba Den Mountain Festival (Tay Ninh)

The Ba Den Mountain Spring Festival is one of the most significant festivals at Ba Den Mountain in Tay Ninh
Ba Den Mountain is located in Thanh Tan Commune, Hoa Thanh District, Tay Ninh City, Tay Ninh Province, approximately 11 kilometers northeast of the city center. This mountain is rich in legends and unique folk beliefs. The main deity worshipped here is Ba Den, also known as Linh Son Thanh Mau.
Every year, there are two major festivals held at this mountain, with the Ba Den Spring Festival and the Via Ba Festival being the most prominent. The Spring Festival, which marks the beginning of the year, starts on the 4th of the first lunar month and lasts until the end of the first lunar month, featuring numerous events, traditional revolutionary festivals, and religious activities. The Via Ba Festival, held in the 5th lunar month, is also the most important festival at Ba Den Mountain.
The Long Tong Festival of the Tay People (Tuyen Quang)
The Long Tong Festival, also known as the Cau Mua Festival, is one of the most vibrant and joyful traditional celebrations of the Tay people during the early days of the new lunar year. The festival is held on the 15th day of the first lunar month to express wishes for a year of favorable weather, abundance, and happiness. The event takes place in Kien Thanh Commune, Tran Yen District, Yen Bai Province, and consists of two main parts: the Ritual and the Festival. The Ritual includes significant traditional ceremonies such as offering fruits, cakes, honoring the village's guardian deity, and making offerings at the Lady Chua Temple. The Festival portion is the most eagerly anticipated, with both locals and tourists engaging in folk games, cultural activities, and enjoying special foods.
The Sinh Village Wrestling Festival (Hue)

The Sinh Village Wrestling Festival is a unique traditional cultural event at the start of the new year in Hue
On the 10th day of the first lunar month each year, many visitors from various places flock to the ancient capital of Hue to immerse themselves in the lively atmosphere of the Sinh Village Wrestling Festival, held in Phu Mau Commune, Phu Vang District, Thua Thien-Hue Province. This festival is a fascinating way to pray for good health, peace, and a bountiful harvest, while also serving as a form of entertainment to start the new year and encouraging the youth to build strength and courage.
