Introducing the Nha Trang Oceanography Institute
The Nha Trang Oceanography Institute was established in 1922 during the French colonial period. By the end of 1969, it came under the management of the University of Saigon and became the largest marine research and storage facility in Southeast Asia.
Currently, the Nha Trang Oceanography Institute is located at 1 Cau Da Street, Vinh Hoa Ward, Nha Trang City, in Khanh Hoa Province. The institute occupies a large, elevated area of around 20 hectares near Cau Da port. Its location is also highly strategic, being close to international waters and home to Vietnam’s deepest coastline.
The Nha Trang Oceanography Institute welcomes visitors from Monday to Sunday, between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM, excluding public holidays and national celebrations according to government regulations.
This is a popular destination for both the locals of Nha Trang and the people of Khanh Hoa Province in general. It is also a favorite stop for tourists whenever they book a flight to Nha Trang.
