1. Which categories of passengers are permitted to enter Japan?
- All passengers holding Japanese nationality;
- Spouses of passengers with Japanese nationality;
- Individuals who are spouses of permanent residents;
- Passengers holding diplomatic titles;
- Passengers who are crew members;
- Individuals with valid visas meeting both of the following conditions:
- Foreign nationals entering Japan for short-term stays (under 3 months) for business/work purposes or for long-term residency purposes.
- Foreign nationals staying for the aforementioned purposes with a receiving organization in Japan to oversee their activities.
- The Japanese government denies entry to foreign nationals who have stayed in any of the 159 countries/regions within 14 days prior to arrival. Transit passengers from these countries are permitted to enter Japan.
2. What documents are required for entry into Japan?

The Japanese government mandates that all passengers entering the country must ensure they provide the following documents accurately and completely:
- Provide a negative Covid-19 test certificate issued within 72 hours before departure;
- Immediately complete a pledge to comply with the Japanese government's quarantine regulations;
- Install an application to monitor the quarantine process and report results to Japanese authorities.
3. How is the Covid-19 testing requirement implemented?
- All passengers entering Japan are required to undergo a rapid Covid-19 test at the airport. If the result is negative, passengers must follow the quarantine regulations set by the Japanese government.
4. Quarantine regulations issued by the Japanese government
- Passengers with valid proof of receiving three vaccine doses and a negative test result upon entry: exempt from quarantine entirely.
- Passengers who are unvaccinated (or lack valid proof) and test negative upon entry: quarantine at their residence for 7 days, with the option to shorten if they test negative after 3 days.
