Go Co Village boasts a history of thousands of years, located in Pho Thanh ward, Duc Pho town, Quang Ngai. This coastal village still retains its simple wooden homes and pristine natural surroundings.
Introduction to Go Co Village
Go Co Village lies along the Sa Huynh coastline. It is an attractive community-based tourism destination with customs, traditions, and cultural intersections of Dong Son, Champa, and Sa Huynh. The enduring cultural essence of these three periods seems to linger in every inch of the land and in the very bloodline of its people. The land of Go Co has witnessed significant historical transformations, from the trials of prolonged resistance wars to a period of near-forgotten obscurity, before experiencing a remarkable resurgence.

The village was discovered by both local and international experts in 2017. A survey team was there to establish the Sa Huynh cultural space and present it to UNESCO for recognition as a World Heritage site. At that time, the village was almost unknown to the public. Experts concluded that the Go Co area, along with the An Khe lagoon, is the heart of the Sa Huynh culture. This is followed by the Champa culture, marked by numerous relics such as stone roads, Champa wells, inscriptions, stone walls, Champa towers, and stone-based irrigation systems.

Best time to visit Go Co Village
In 2018, the residents of Go Co Village began learning the ropes of community-based tourism. By 2019, they formed a community tourism cooperative, and in 2020, the village was recognized as a 3-star tourism destination under the OCOP standards. They have meticulously organized groups to offer services such as homestays. Today, anyone in the village can engage in tourism to supplement their income. The village has undergone a transformation and now proudly bears the name ‘Heritage Park Village’, reflecting the values of a miniature geological park.

The climate in the village is distinctly divided into two seasons due to the influence of the Northeast and Southwest monsoons. The dry season, which corresponds to summer, typically runs from April to early September. During this time, the weather is mostly dry with calm, clear seas and sunny days. This period is considered the best time to visit Go Co. Travelers should remember to pack a light jacket, a hat, sunscreen, and plenty of water.
