From November 6-12, 2024, Gia Lai Province will host the Wild Sunflower Week at Chư Đang Ya Volcano, featuring a series of cultural, sports, and artistic activities. This event not only celebrates the stunning natural landscape of the Central Highlands but also promotes the region's rich cultural heritage. The opening ceremony on the morning of November 8 at the communal house in Ia Gri Village, Chư Đang Ya Commune, will mark the occasion with a record-breaking Central Highlands gong performance involving the largest number of participants to date.
Throughout the week, visitors can enjoy a variety of exciting activities, including a competition to conquer the summit of Chư Đang Ya Volcano and traditional folk art performances. Guests will also have the chance to admire traditional costumes and participate in a hot air balloon release. The 2024 Half Marathon themed “Awakening the Chư Păh Countryside” will also take place.
At picturesque locations such as Nghĩa Hưng Commune, Biển Hồ, and the Chư Păh area, visitors can immerse themselves in nature. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to explore the region's unique indigenous culture. The vibrant yellow wild sunflower fields blooming around the volcano are a stunning highlight. These flowers, symbolic of Gia Lai, bloom annually in November. The sunflower fields near the volcano have been recognized by the Vietnam Records Organization (Vietking) as a must-visit destination.
