Along the canal’s edge, the red-leafed banyan trees cast shadows over the river in the afternoon sun. Vibrant yellow flowers of the huỳnh anh vine line the fences, while old coconut husks litter the village paths.
The ancient houses in Đông Hòa Hiệp are scattered across the An Bình Đông, Phú Hòa, An Lợi, and An Thạnh hamlets. Some of these hamlets connect in a grid-like pattern within a 2km radius, so Tiền Giang tourists can easily explore the village by bike or on foot.
The ancient houses nestled within orchards
Unlike the tightly clustered ancient houses in Đường Lâm village (Hà Nội) or Phước Tích village (Thừa Thiên-Huế), the ancient houses in Đông Hòa Hiệp are scattered across the landscape, surrounded by lush orchards. They are renowned for blending Eastern and Western architectural styles in a harmonious way.
