Bali Entry Procedures You Need to Know - Documents to Prepare in Advance
1. Vietnamese Passport Valid for at Least 6 Months
Ensure your passport remains valid for at least 6 months from your planned departure date from Bali.
2. Bali Visa (For Stays Exceeding 30 Days)
Vietnamese citizens are allowed to enter Indonesia (including Bali) without a visa for stays of up to 30 days. If you plan to stay longer than 30 days, you must obtain a visa before your trip.
3. Immigration Arrival and Departure Form
Visit the website https://bcngurahrai.beacukai.go.id/ to complete the electronic customs declaration. Fill in all required information as instructed and take a screenshot once completed.
4. Flight Tickets/Accommodation Confirmation in Bali
To ensure a smooth entry into Bali, you need to book your hotel accommodation and round-trip flight tickets in advance. Keep a printed copy or save them on your phone, as customs may ask for verification to confirm your visit is for tourism purposes and not for illegal overstaying.
5. Bali Travel Insurance
While travel insurance is not mandatory, it is highly recommended as it is not an unnecessary expense. Travel insurance provides a sense of security and protection in emergencies, such as medical issues, trip cancellations, and flight delays.

- Prepare notarized copies of important documents.
- Carry printed copies of all documents to present to customs officers.
What to Prepare Before Entering Bali?
1. Purchase WiFi & Indonesian SIM Card
It’s advisable to buy an ESIM or 4G international SIM card in advance for convenient communication, using Google Maps, or searching for useful travel information.
2. Cash and Payment Cards
Exchange some cash in Vietnam for small expenses. Prepare an international payment card for larger transactions. Convert Vietnamese Dong to Rupiah before your trip, as the exchange rate is better than at airports, banks, or local shopping centers. This will help you pay for small expenses like souvenirs, short taxi rides, or street food.
Additionally, you can use international payment cards like Visa or Mastercard for larger expenses such as booking flights, hotels, or shopping at malls. You can also withdraw cash from international ATMs in Bali. However, be mindful of transaction fees and exchange rates when making transactions.
3. Renting Transportation in Bali
In Bali, taxis, Grab, and Gojek are widely available. Alternatively, you can opt for hiring a private driver or renting a scooter/motorcycle if you prefer exploring Bali on your own. If you plan to rent a vehicle, remember to bring your international driver’s license!
4. Weather-Appropriate Clothing for Bali
Check the weather forecast before traveling to Bali to pack suitable clothing. Bali is famous for its dreamy beaches and golden sunshine. Lightweight, breathable fabrics like cotton, linen, or chiffon are perfect choices to ensure comfort under the tropical sun.
Sunglasses, wide-brimmed hats, and sunscreen are essential accessories to protect you from the intense sunlight. Additionally, bring a light jacket in case the evenings get cooler. If you plan to swim, don’t forget to pack your swimwear.
5. Universal Power Adapter
Bali and Indonesia use two-pin round sockets with recessed holes. Some Vietnamese plugs may fit, but others won’t. Therefore, it’s recommended to bring a universal power adapter to ensure your electronic devices can be used throughout your trip.
Guide to Filling Out the Bali Arrival Declaration Form
The Bali arrival declaration form, also known as the Electronic Customs Declaration (E-CD), is an online form that no longer requires printing or manual filling. If you’re unsure how to complete it, let Mytour guide you through the process:
Step 1: Visit the website https://bcngurahrai.beacukai.go.id/
Step 2: Select "Arrival"
Step 3: Fill in all required personal information
- Full Name: Enter your full name as it appears on your passport.
- E-mail: Optional field
- Passport Number: Enter your passport number
- Nationality: Select Vietnam as your nationality.
- Date of Birth: Enter your birthdate in the format dd/mm/yyyy
- Occupation (Job): Enter your current occupation
- Address in Indonesia – hotel name / residence address: Enter the name of your hotel or accommodation in Bali.
- Place of Arrival: Select the province or airport where you will arrive
- Flight / Voyage / Other Carrier Number: Enter your flight number.
- Date of Arrival (DD-MM-YYYY): Enter your arrival date
- Click Next.
Step 4: Fill in Additional Information
- Number of Accompanied baggage: Enter the number of carry-on luggage items
- Number of Unaccompanied Baggage: Enter the number of checked luggage items
- Number of Family Members travelling with You (only for passenger): Enter the number of family members traveling with you (Only those accompanying you, not total family members)
- If the number of members >0, a table will appear, and you must fill in the required details for each family member.
- Click Add. Then click Next.
Step 5: Declare Goods
You will be asked about the items you are carrying during the Bali entry process, such as animals, fish, foreign currency, sharp objects, explosives, etc. For this section, select No for all and click Next if there’s nothing to declare.
Step 6: Declare IMEI for Mobile Phones, Laptops, and Tablets
For this section, select No and then click Next.
Step 7: Submit the Declaration and Save the QR Code
After submitting the declaration, you will receive a QR code. Save this QR code to present to customs officers upon arrival.
Note:
- Complete the E-CD form at least 24 hours before arriving in Bali.
- You can edit your declaration if any information changes.
- Additionally, you can download the "BCN Mobile" app to complete the E-CD on your smartphone.
Items Prohibited When Entering Bali
To ensure the safety and security of tourists, Bali authorities have restrictions or bans on certain items when entering the country. Below is a list of items you should be aware of.
1. Items Completely Prohibited
- Drugs and narcotics: Strictly prohibited in any form.
- Weapons, ammunition, and explosives: Including toy guns, fake guns, knives, swords, etc.
- Flammable and toxic substances: Gasoline, oil, gas, hazardous chemicals, etc.
- Pornographic materials: Any content deemed obscene or indecent is banned.
- Wildlife and wildlife products: Animal skins, ivory, rhino horns, etc.
- Fresh food, meat, and dairy products: To ensure food safety.
- Plants and plant products: Seeds, plants, fresh fruits, etc.
- Tobacco and tobacco products: Including e-cigarettes.
- High-value items: Gold, diamonds, expensive jewelry. Declare these items to customs if carrying them.
2. Restricted Items or Items Requiring Attention When Entering Bali
- Medications: Only a reasonable amount for personal use, accompanied by a prescription.
- Cosmetics: Only a reasonable amount for personal use.
- Cash: Maximum of 6,500 USD or 100 million Rupiah. Carry international payment cards for convenience.
