Located in An Hai Commune, Mount Thoi Loi is the largest dormant volcano on Ly Son Island in Quang Ngai Province. With an elevation of over 149 meters above sea level, it is the highest point on the island. The mountain's summit is the result of five extinct volcanoes on the eastern part of Ly Son Island. This area not only boasts the majestic beauty of mountainous landscapes but also the picturesque charm of the vast blue beach.
Thoi Loi is a unique attraction because it features a freshwater lake at its summit, caves at its base, and numerous archaeological sites hidden beneath the earth. According to legend, the mountain was once a dense forest full of precious trees, with large tree trunks and a source of fresh water that once cascaded down to the foot of the mountain, creating the Chinh Stream. Today, the Chinh Stream no longer exists, replaced by the Hang Pagoda.

How to get to the summit of the mountain
To explore this stunning site, visitors can choose to ride a motorbike from Ly Son Port. It takes about 15 minutes to reach the foot of the mountain. The road up the mountain is relatively steep and a bit challenging for first-time visitors. At the base, there is a wide, flat land area where the Ly Son Flagpole is situated.
The hiking trail leads visitors from the flagpole area, heading south, gradually ascending to the summit, where they will reach the natural lake resembling a giant funnel. This lake is the mouth of the volcano that erupted millions of years ago, shaping the unique landscape of Ly Son Island as we see it today.
