Taste Atlas, the renowned global culinary guide, has placed Pho Bo at the 93rd spot in its 2025 ranking of the 100 best dishes worldwide.
The only Vietnamese dish featured in the Taste Atlas ranking.
Taste Atlas is a prestigious website regarded as an international culinary guide. Earlier this January, Taste Atlas released its annual '100 Best Dishes in the World' ranking. Pho Bo represents Vietnam as the sole dish from the country to make the list, securing 93rd place with a rating of 4.44 stars. The top-ranked dish is Lechona, a traditional, mouthwatering roasted pork dish from Colombia.
The Taste Atlas ranking is based on nearly 400,000 votes from thousands of culinary experts, chefs, and food enthusiasts. A total of 11,000 dishes were considered for inclusion in the list. Founded in 2015, Taste Atlas aims to showcase thousands of highly-rated dishes to food lovers worldwide. Many foodies view the website as a culinary map, guiding them to discover the finest local dishes.
In December 2024, Taste Atlas ranked Vietnam 22nd in its '100 Best Cuisines in the World' list. Vietnamese cuisine is highly praised by both food lovers and experts around the globe. Besides Pho Bo, other beloved traditional dishes such as Bánh Mì, Bún Riêu, Mì Quảng, and Bún Chả have also gained international recognition.

Taste Atlas experts offer a detailed description of Pho Bo. The beef used is typically brisket or shank, while the broth is made by simmering beef bones, with cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, and star anise for added flavor. Pho can be served with either rare or cooked beef, depending on personal preference. It's traditionally enjoyed with fresh herbs, onions, fried dough sticks, lime, and chili.
Known as the “soul food” of Vietnam, Pho Bo is beloved across the country. The dish has regional variations in the North, Central, and South to cater to local tastes. However, the basic ingredients and cooking methods remain true to the traditional recipe.
