Formation History
According to local tradition, the Cẩm Thanh coconut forest has existed for about 200 years. Early settlers from the Southwestern region brought the water coconut tree here and planted it in the fertile land. The favorable conditions allowed the coconuts to thrive, forming a forest covering roughly 7 acres (7 hectares). This is how the name Bai Mau Coconut Forest was born, although its current area has expanded to 100 hectares.
During the resistance period, Bai Mau Coconut Forest in Hoi An was used as a revolutionary base for our forces in the years of the war against French colonialists and American imperialists. With its hidden terrain, covered by coconut trees and strategic intelligence, despite being outnumbered, our forces achieved many victories and remarkable feats. Today, Bai Mau Coconut Forest, also known as Cẩm Thanh coconut forest, has become a renowned ecological tourist destination.
