PASSENGERS TRAVELING ON INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS
Starting from February 15, 2024, passengers checking in for international flights will need to present one of the following documents: passport, travel document, or other valid immigration documents as per legal regulations, such as exit-entry visas, permanent residence cards, temporary residence cards, or national ID cards (if Vietnam and the relevant country have signed agreements allowing citizens of the signatory nation to use national IDs instead of passports within each other's territories).
PASSENGERS WHO ARE FOREIGN NATIONALS AGED 14 AND ABOVE CHECKING IN FOR DOMESTIC FLIGHTS
Passengers must present one of the following legal documents or equivalent electronic data: a passport (with the most recent immigration stamp) or an international travel document (with the most recent immigration stamp) and documents related to residency in Vietnam (visa, permanent residence card, temporary residence card, APEC business travel card) unless exempt from visa requirements; a diplomatic identity card issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to members of diplomatic missions, consular offices, or international organizations; a driver’s license for cars or motorcycles; an airport security control card with long-term validity; an identification card from Vietnamese airlines; a Level 2 electronic identification account of the passenger (as per new regulations)...
VIETNAMESE NATIONAL PASSENGERS AGED 14 AND ABOVE MUST PRESENT DOCUMENTS WHEN CHECKING IN FOR DOMESTIC FLIGHTS
This category of passengers is required to present one of the following legal documents or equivalent electronic data: a passport or travel document, an exit visa, a permanent or temporary residence card, an identity card, a citizen's ID card; proof or certificates issued by the police or military; a National Assembly member card; a party membership card; a journalist's press card; a driver’s license for cars or motorcycles; a National Civil Aviation Security Committee identification card; an airport security control card with long-term validity; an identification card from Vietnamese airlines; a Level 2 electronic identification account; a certificate of identity confirmation issued by the police; a certification from competent authorities confirming the passenger has completed a criminal sentence.
Vietnamese passengers aged 14 to just under 20 years may use the same travel documents as those required for passengers under 14 years old when checking in for flights.

VIETNAMESE PASSENGERS UNDER 14 YEARS OLD WHEN CHECKING IN FOR DOMESTIC FLIGHTS
This group of passengers must present one of the following documents:
- Birth certificate; extract from civil registration; birth certificate extract (birth information extract); written confirmation of civil registration information; in case the child is under 2 months old and does not have a birth certificate, a birth certificate confirmation letter is required; Electronic identification account level 2 for the passenger (new regulation); personal information of the passenger in the Electronic identification account level 2 of the father, mother, or guardian traveling with the flight.
- Documentation from a social organization confirming the care of the child by the organization (valid only for 6 months from the date of confirmation).
- Identity confirmation letter issued by the police agency.
- Citizen ID card, personal identification card, passport (individual passport or accompanied by the parents' passport).
The documents used by the passenger when traveling by air, as specified above, must meet the following conditions:
- Must be the original document and still valid for use; or an electronic version with legal validity as per regulations.
- Birth certificates, civil status extracts, birth certificate extracts (birth information extracts), documents confirming civil status details, and birth certificates must either be original copies or certified duplicates as required by law, or electronic versions that hold legal validity under current regulations.
- Documents listed in points 1, 2, 3, and 4 will not be accepted if they lack a photo or the photo does not meet the legal standards, except for birth certificates, birth certificates, civil status extracts, civil status confirmation documents, and official documents verifying escort actions from the competent authorities.
- For level 2 electronic identification accounts or electronic birth certificates of passengers, it is necessary to ensure that the account is functioning properly at the time of presentation.
