What new regulations does Bamboo Airways have for pregnant passengers?
If you or your loved ones, including friends, are expecting and about to travel on a flight with Bamboo Airways, please refer to the following conditions for a smooth journey.
• Expectant passengers
- Pregnancy under 28 weeks (equivalent to under 27 weeks and 6 days): Bamboo Airways accepts transportation as a regular passenger. However, the passenger must provide proof of the pregnancy's gestational age (such as a Pregnancy Check-up Certificate, Routine Check-up Book, Ultrasound Report, Health Book, or a photo of one of these documents) clearly indicating the pregnancy's age in weeks.
- Pregnancy between 28 and 32 weeks (equivalent to from 28 weeks 0 days to 31 weeks 6 days): Bamboo Airways allows transportation, but the passenger must present a Pregnancy Check-up Certificate, Routine Check-up Book, Ultrasound Report, Health Book, or a Doctor's Confirmation Letter, which must contain the following information:
+ Certified by a specialized doctor
+ Whether it is a single, twin, or multiple pregnancy
+ Gestational age of the pregnancy
+ Expected due date
+ The health condition of both the mother and the fetus is good or normal
These documents are valid for 15 days from the actual departure date of the first leg of the flight. This documentation will still be accepted for subsequent flights if the passenger does not experience any health issues during the journey and if the pregnancy remains under 32 weeks at the actual departure date of the next leg of the flight.
- Pregnancy between 32 and 36 weeks (equivalent to between 32 weeks 0 days and 35 weeks 6 days): Bamboo Airways will accept transportation, but the passenger must present the MEDIF II health form (with a doctor's certification) or a doctor's confirmation that does not follow the form, or a Pregnancy Check-up Certificate / Routine Check-up Book / Ultrasound Report / Health Book that includes the following information:
+ Confirmed by specialist doctors
+ Whether it is a single, twin, or triplet pregnancy...
+ The gestational age of the pregnancy
+ The estimated due date
+ The health of both the mother and the fetus is normal or in good condition, and the mother is fit for the flight.
Therefore, the documents are valid for 7 days from the actual departure date of the first flight leg. These documents will still be accepted for subsequent flights if the passenger does not experience any health issues during the journey and the pregnancy remains within the allowed gestational age limits according to the regulations at the actual departure date of the next leg of the flight.
- Pregnancy beyond 36 weeks: Bamboo Airways will not accept transportation.
• Passengers carrying multiples (twins or more)
- Pregnancy under 28 weeks: Bamboo Airways will accept transportation as a regular passenger, provided that the passenger presents proof of the pregnancy's gestational age (such as a Pregnancy Check-up Certificate, Routine Check-up Book, Ultrasound Report, Health Book, or a photo of one of these documents) with the pregnancy's age clearly indicated.
- Pregnancy between 28 and 32 weeks: Bamboo Airways will accept transportation, provided that the passenger presents the MEDIF II health form (with a doctor's confirmation) or a doctor's note not following the standard form, or a Pregnancy Check-up Certificate / Routine Check-up Book / Ultrasound Report / Health Book that includes the following information:
The diagnosis has been confirmed by specialists in the field.
Whether it is a single, twin, or triplet pregnancy.
The current gestational age of the fetus.
The expected delivery date.
The health of the mother and baby is good or normal, and they are fit for travel.
Bamboo Airways specifies that the documents are valid for 7 days from the actual departure date of the first flight. The documents will still be accepted for subsequent flights if the passenger experiences no health issues throughout the journey and still meets the gestational age limit by the time of the next flight's actual departure.
-Pregnancy over 32 weeks: Bamboo Airways does not accept transportation.
• Passengers who are pregnant through artificial insemination or have an abnormal pregnancy.
- Pregnancy under 32 weeks: Bamboo Airways will accept transportation provided the passenger presents a completed MEDIF II form (signed by a doctor) or a doctor’s certificate not in the form, or a prenatal examination certificate / regular checkup book / ultrasound report / health record with all necessary details included:
The confirmation provided by specialists in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.
Whether it's a single, twin, or triplet pregnancy, and so on.
The gestational age of the pregnancy.
+ Expected delivery date
+ The health condition of both the mother and the fetus is stable or normal, and both are fit for travel
Vietnam Airlines has stated that the documents remain valid within 7 days from the actual departure date of the first flight leg. These documents will still be accepted for subsequent flights as long as there are no health issues during the journey, and the pregnancy is still within the allowed gestational age as per regulations on the actual departure date of the next flight leg.
- Pregnancy over 32 weeks: Bamboo Airways does not accept transportation for passengers in this condition.
Important notes:
- Expectant passengers traveling on international flights are required to bring an additional set of documents in English, with certification from a recognized notary public.
- Some countries have specific entry requirements for pregnant women. Passengers who are pregnant are advised to check the entry regulations of their destination country before starting their journey.
- In Vietnam, the Health Certificate/ MEDIF II Medical Information Form must be verified by medical institutions, including general or specialized hospitals at the central, provincial, municipal, district, or equivalent level.
