Tân Lập Floating Village was established with houses built on high stilts to avoid flooding. Today, it has become an enticing eco-tourism destination conveniently located near Saigon.
The Historical Formation of Tân Lập Floating Village

Tân Lập Floating Village was once an area perpetually submerged in water. The locals adapted to living with floods by constructing homes on elevated mounds. Each time the water rose, the floors of the houses were raised accordingly. Over time, the village became colloquially known as the “floating village.” Nowadays, the area no longer has residents, as it has been transformed into an eco-tourism development project.

The floating village is situated on National Highway 62, in Tân Lập commune, Mộc Hóa district, Long An province, just over 15km from the Cambodian border. Tân Lập spans a vast area of 135 hectares, with a buffer zone covering approximately 500 hectares. The entire area is being meticulously planned to develop essential facilities catering to tourism, recreation, and leisure needs.

With its diverse ecosystem of flora and fauna, Tân Lập Floating Village is home to several specially conserved and nurtured species. Notably, the melaleuca trees, planted over a decade ago, create an expansive green landscape. During the flood season, the surrounding fields are submerged in water. From a higher vantage point, the village resembles giant green rafts floating on a vast expanse of shimmering water, painting a vivid natural masterpiece.

Experiences and Tips When Visiting the Floating Village

During this period, Tân Lập stands out as a romantic oasis amidst the vast expanse of water.
