Thanh Lan Island is the largest island in Co To District, maintaining its untouched natural beauty with a diverse ecosystem of forests and seas, and is considered the "shining gem" of Quang Ninh tourism.

Thanh Lan Commune is located in the southern part of Co To District, covering an area of approximately 27 km2. It is about 15 to 20 minutes by boat from Co To Island. Travelers can reach here by speedboat from Cai Rong port, or from the international tourist port at Tuan Chau or Ao Tien port (Van Don District). If traveling from Ao Tien, it takes around 1.5 hours to reach Co To, then about 20 minutes by boat to Thanh Lan.

From a distance, Thanh Lan appears as a green oasis amidst the sea. The newly built roads and homes on the island seem to add to its peaceful transformation, preserving the island's rare tranquility. Popular attractions include Ba Chau Lagoon, Hai Quan Beach, and C76 Beach. These beaches are relatively untouched and receive fewer tourists than Co To Island. There are no hotels on the island, just a few homestays run by locals.

Things to do on Thanh Lan Island
Thanh Lan Island is a pristine paradise with smooth, crescent-shaped sandy beaches, embracing crystal-clear waters. Visitors can enjoy swimming at several beaches, with four main ones being Ba Chau Beach, Hai Quan Beach, C76 Beach, and Vuong Tron Beach. You can also experience activities like riding a canoe, fishing, and paddleboarding (SUP).

Additionally, visitors can explore the church, or hike to the peak of Cap Chau, which rises more than 210 meters above sea level. Other activities include snorkeling to admire coral reefs, birdwatching for seagulls, and enjoying the sunrise and sunset. A special experience that many tourists enjoy is clam digging on the beach.

Culinary delights on the island
When visiting Thanh Lan Island, you will have the chance to savor dishes made from fresh seafood. Notable seafood includes sea urchins, jellyfish, sea cucumbers, and crab. The island has very few restaurants or eateries. Visitors can arrange for homestays to cook meals, or purchase seafood to prepare themselves. Additionally, you can visit jellyfish processing workshops, harvest snails, and catch oysters, which are the main livelihoods of the local islanders.
