The Fairy Waterfall entices visitors with its untouched beauty, surrounded by expansive forests. The white torrents of water cascade from a height of several meters, creating a picturesque scene of unparalleled elegance.
Geographical location and landscape of the Fairy Waterfall
The Fairy Waterfall is located in Na Cha village, Chieng Khoa commune, about 7 km southeast of the center of Van Ho district. This area has become a major tourist attraction in Moc Chau. The waterfall is fed by the Tan stream, a confluence from branches of Suoi Lin village in Van Ho commune and Suoi Khem village in Phieng Luong commune, Moc Chau district, Son La province.

The Fairy Waterfall consists of three levels, stretching over a 1 km forest path. The levels are not far apart, with each one offering a unique height and distinct scenery. Visitors experience a range of emotions as they explore. This waterfall is renowned for its ethereal beauty, with emerald green and crystal-clear water, surrounded by wild nature and lush vegetation along the mountain slopes.

The origin and significance of the waterfall's name
The Fairy Waterfall is also known by other names, such as the Cloud Waterfall or Chieng Khoa Waterfall. The waterfall is linked to a legend about two beautiful young women who helped the local people with farming, building homes, and performing traditional dances. To honor their wisdom and virtue, the villagers deified them. After their passing, a shrine was built, dedicated to Nàng Bẳng and Nàng Mương, also known as the Shrine of the Mountain Queen. Every year, during the blooming season of the Ban flowers (in March), locals come to offer incense, pray for peace, health, and a bountiful harvest for the community.

The best time to visit the Fairy Waterfall
The Fairy Waterfall in Moc Chau is stunning at any time of the year, as it is surrounded by a pristine forest with lush vegetation. However, the ideal time to visit is between March and May each year. During this period, the waterfall is at its fullest, with all three levels flowing with abundant water. This is also the transitional season from spring to summer, often accompanied by light rains that turn the water into a brilliant emerald hue, blending harmoniously with the surrounding greenery to create a mesmerizing scene. For the best photos, be sure to visit during this time.

How to get to the waterfall
From the center of Moc Chau town, travel approximately 27.8 km along National Highway 43 towards the ferry terminal. Then turn right and head towards Chieng Khoa commune. At the intersection of Chieng Khoa commune, turn right again and follow the signs for 1 km to reach the Fairy Waterfall.
The beauty of each level of the waterfall
First main waterfall level
After a 100-meter uphill walk from the parking area, you'll reach the first level of the waterfall. It's a spot you certainly won't want to miss. Here, the stream flows gently, creating shallow, cool swimming pools. The water is crystal clear, making it a perfect place to relax, swim, and enjoy the refreshing water.

Second waterfall level
For those seeking adventure and a sense of accomplishment, you can ascend to the second level of the waterfall. Follow a path along the rocky cliffs, where a simple yet secure bamboo walkway leads the way. After passing through a lush area, you'll come upon the second level. Visitors mainly take photos from above as there is no direct access to the level yet. It's important to consider safety first before venturing to the second level.

Third waterfall level
This is considered the most beautiful level of the waterfall. After crossing the wooden bridge at the second level, you'll step into an open space, and before you lies the majestic waterfall.
