The Ministry of Home Affairs has recently sent a letter to the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs expressing their opinion on the suggestion to swap workdays for the April 30 holiday and International Workers' Day on May 1.

The Ministry of Home Affairs agrees with the proposal to add an extra holiday on April 29, with a rescheduled workday to extend the holiday period as proposed by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has urged the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs to promptly present the proposal to the Prime Minister for review and decision, ensuring proper coordination in organizing and arranging work for the political system, relevant agencies, organizations, and the public.
Earlier, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs had sent a letter to relevant agencies seeking opinions on the proposal to swap workdays during the April 30 Victory Day holiday and International Workers' Day on May 1, in order to allow workers to enjoy a 5-day continuous break.
According to the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, in 2024, the April 30 Victory Day and May 1 International Workers' Day holiday period includes April 29 (a Monday), which falls between the public holiday and the regular weekend break.
As a result, there have been proposals to swap the normal workday (April 29) and reschedule it to another day, allowing for a 5-day consecutive break during the April 30 and May 1 holidays in 2024 for government employees and workers.
This will help stimulate tourism and social consumption, driving economic growth. Additionally, the swap will not affect the overall working hours of government employees and workers.
