Against the backdrop of Paris' blue skies, the Eiffel Tower stands out with its graceful beauty, welcoming travelers to explore the romantic and culturally rich France.
Paris is one of the most sought-after tourist destinations in the world, known by many lovely titles such as the 'City of Love,' the 'Fashion Capital,' and the 'Gastronomy Heaven.' It boasts countless famous brands, delicious foods, and timeless landmarks. But when it comes to choosing an emblem most associated with the French capital, nothing can leave a more lasting impression than the iconic Eiffel Tower.
If you're planning a trip to France, specifically Paris, then join Mytour as we go over some essential tips for visiting the Eiffel Tower, including how to buy tickets, get around, and enjoy the exciting activities within this monumental landmark.
Where is the Eiffel Tower?

The Eiffel Tower is located at Gustave Eiffel, Paris, France. It is one of the most renowned architectural feats globally and serves as the symbol of France.
The Eiffel Tower was constructed in 1889 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution. This iconic tower has three levels, each offering breathtaking views of Paris. Visitors can either take the elevator or climb the stairs to reach the various floors of the tower. At the top of the Eiffel Tower, there is an observation deck where visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the city.
What Does the Name Eiffel Tower Mean?

The Eiffel Tower stands as the symbol of Paris, reaching a height of 324 meters from the ground. Designed by the French architect of the same name, Gustave Eiffel, it officially opened its doors in 1889. Not only is it renowned for its unique design, but the tower is also known as an essential part of Paris' enchanting night-time skyline.
This landmark is a popular spot for couples who come here to date, propose, or even take wedding photos, as it offers an incredibly romantic atmosphere. The tower also features an elevated observation deck that allows visitors to take in a stunning 360-degree view of the city.
Due to its symbolic status and historical significance, several other famous structures have been inspired by the Eiffel Tower. One such example is the Tokyo Tower, a must-see attraction for many visitors traveling to Japan.
How to Get to the Eiffel Tower in Paris?

There are 3 different ways to reach the Eiffel Tower: the metro, the RER train, and the bus.
1. Reaching the Eiffel Tower by Metro
- Bir-Hakeim Station, Line 6: about an 8-minute walk
- École Militaire Station, Line 8: about an 11-minute walk
- Trocadéro Station, Line 9: about a 16-minute walk
2. Reaching the Eiffel Tower by RER Train
RER Line C, Champ de Mars-Tour Eiffel Station: about a 7-minute walk.
3. Reaching the Eiffel Tower by Bus
You can visit the Eiffel Tower by bus using lines 30, 40, and 82. The bus stops are located about a 5-minute walk from the tower.
Right outside the ticket checkpoint at Bir-Hakeim Station on Line 6, you'll see a sign saying 'Tour Eiffel.' Be sure to follow this sign. Both exits have this sign, so feel free to take whichever one you prefer, as both will lead you to the Eiffel Tower.
4. Getting to the Eiffel Tower by Taxi
A taxi is definitely one of the most convenient options for #teamMytour, right? You can call a taxi from your hotel. While it's more expensive than public transport, you'll save time by not having to follow signs or walk from bus stops.
Mytour Tip: To avoid traffic during peak hours, you can catch a taxi from the designated pick-up point near Pullman Paris Tour Eiffel, close to the tower. This is the safest and easiest pick-up point, as it's easy to find and has space for drivers to stop. Plus, it's near the hotel entrance, so even late at night, there are usually people walking around.
Things to Keep in Mind When Taking the Metro or Train to the Eiffel Tower
- When taking the train, always be cautious of pickpockets by wearing your backpack or handbag in front of you, where you can see it. It's also a good idea to not keep all your money in one pocket; instead, divide it into smaller amounts and place them in different pockets. This ensures that you won't lose all your money if a thief happens to notice.
- Note that on some trains, you may have to open the doors yourself to exit (the doors do not open automatically at station stops).
How to Buy Tickets for the Eiffel Tower When the Website is Sold Out?

During peak season, tickets on the official website can sell out quickly. However, that doesn’t mean you won’t have a chance to experience the Parisian streets from above at night. If the official website has sold out, you can still purchase tickets through the Mytour website or app.
This not only helps you 'hunt' for tickets at discounted prices but also offers the option for priority entry. If you have a packed schedule and don’t want to miss out just because you have to wait in line to buy tickets, this is the perfect solution for booking Paris attractions tickets on Mytour.
#teamMytour’s Eiffel Tower Exploration Itinerary in Paris
1. Arrive at the meeting point at 9:25 PM
We joined the Eiffel Tower exploration tour in July 2023. Although we arrived at 9:45 PM, it was still quite bright outside due to the late sunset in Paris during summer. The meeting point was clearly stated in the email: Place de Sydney in front of Pullman Paris Tour Eiffel at 9:20 PM (20 minutes before departure). Be sure to look for the Paris City Vision representative standing in front of the sign.

The meeting point was crowded, but the representative you’re looking for is easy to spot—they’ll be wearing a bright red lanyard. Once you find them, show your Mytour voucher to exchange it for your Eiffel Tower tickets.

Right here, you’ll get your first view of the magnificent Eiffel Tower. It’s also a great spot for a #teamMytour photo op! The ticket comes with a very user-friendly audio guide QR code. Make sure not to throw it away when you get it because you'll need it for the next activities at this iconic landmark.
2. Depart for the Eiffel Tower at 9:45 PM
Once we all had our tickets, we started our journey to explore this grand monument. At this point, we were with a large group, all heading to the same destination, so I felt confident I wouldn’t get lost.

After arriving at the tower, we had to stand in line for a security check. To save time and avoid unnecessary hassle, be sure to only bring the essentials with you!

My personal advice is to never stray too far from the tour guide if it’s your first time visiting the Eiffel Tower. Staying close to the guide makes it easier to hear important explanations and instructions. The excitement builds up to a peak as the magnificent Eiffel Tower comes into view, towering majestically before your eyes. Let’s head inside together!
3. Reach the Eiffel Tower Elevator Area at 10:15 PM
It took us about 30 minutes to reach the elevator area as we had to pass through two security checkpoints. From here, you’ll need to lean back as far as you can to capture a great photo of the Eiffel Tower. The sky is beginning to darken, but it still maintains a clear blue hue, blending perfectly with the lights of the tower as it illuminates. This is the very moment we’ve dreamed of, always picturing ourselves exploring the Eiffel Tower at night.

Since the tickets purchased on Mytour are for priority entry, we were directed to a separate entrance for our group. This was completely different from the regular entrance, where many tourists were waiting in long lines. That’s exactly why I prefer buying tickets through Mytour rather than waiting in line at the venue.
Once you’re here, you can connect to the Eiffel Tower’s Wi-Fi and use the audio guide to learn more about this iconic structure. Just scan the QR code you received when exchanging your voucher to easily access it.
4. Explore the Second Observation Deck at 10:35 PM

Another important tip to keep in mind is to bring a jacket with you. Even though it's summer, the weather at higher altitudes can still get quite chilly.
5. Witness the Spectacular Light Show at the Eiffel Tower

Don't forget to check out the special event at the second observation deck—the Eiffel Tower's daily light show! Starting every hour, from 8:00 PM to 1:00 AM, you'll be able to admire the tower's sparkling beauty.
The flickering lights, resembling countless twinkling stars, create an enchanting sight that will stay in your memory forever. We recommend recording a video of this moment, so you'll have a fun souvenir to look back on.
6. Explore the Second Floor of the Eiffel Tower

One of the first things you'll encounter on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower is a French-style restaurant called Le Jules Verne. The restaurant's menu is displayed on the second floor, but you can access it via a private elevator located on the southern side of the tower. Please note, there is a dress code at this French restaurant—suits or elegant dresses are required. It’s best to make a reservation in advance and prepare appropriate attire.

If you're looking for a more budget-friendly and cozy option, we recommend Bar à Macarons or Restaurant de la Tour Eiffel. They offer a variety of light snacks, drinks, and delicious French pastries.

Additionally, there's a Pierre Hermé macaron shop here if you're in the mood for a sweet treat.
Of course, your Eiffel Tower adventure wouldn't be complete without a souvenir, right? Don’t forget to check out the cute items at the shops, such as t-shirts, snow globes, and tote bags.

The restrooms are also located on the second floor! The second level of the Eiffel Tower also features another observation deck, divided into two interesting areas for you to explore. After enjoying the panoramic view of Paris from the outdoor section, don't forget to head down the stairs and check out the impressive indoor space.
7. Head Down to the First Observation Deck at 11:00 PM

The first observation deck is located on the first floor. While you can take the elevator to get there, we chose to skip the wait and took the stairs down instead.
Since we took the stairs, we had the chance to capture the intricate and detailed ironwork of the tower, as well as get a closer look at the Champagne Flash's sparkling lights. If you're looking for a fresh perspective, choosing the stairs is definitely the way to go!

On our way down, we were unexpectedly greeted by rose petals scattered all around, creating a romantic scene straight out of a movie! However, it’s not something you encounter every day, so if you happen to experience it, you’ll definitely feel like you’ve had a ‘love at first sight’ moment with the Eiffel Tower!

Before heading to the ground level, we visited the first observation deck on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower, and we were truly 'blown away' by the space and the views it offered!
8. Explore the First Floor of the Eiffel Tower
Unlike the second floor, the first floor of the Eiffel Tower impresses with its spacious, open design. You can relax, unwind, or even enjoy a light meal on the rooftop area while taking in the stunning views and fresh air. Isn't that amazing?

There’s also a restaurant on the first floor called Madame Brasserie. It offers a more relaxed and cozy atmosphere compared to the La Jules Verne restaurant on the second floor.

To make sure we didn't miss a single moment, we decided to grab a taxi right at the Pullman Paris Tour Eiffel pickup point to head back to our hotel. Don't worry, taxis in this area operate at full capacity even at midnight.

On our way back, we even got to witness the Eiffel Tower's final light show of the day from the comfort of our car! It was truly the perfect and emotional ending to our visit to the Eiffel Tower, wasn't it?
