Introduction to Jiuzhaigou

2. Brief Overview of Jiuzhaigou
The entire nature reserve spans 60,000 hectares. Situated at an elevation of 2,500 meters above sea level, this destination features three main valleys forming an inverted Y shape. These include Shuzheng Valley, Zechawa Valley, and Rize Valley. Jiuzhaigou is also a national scenic area and part of UNESCO's World Natural Heritage list.
The name Jiuzhaigou originates from the nine Tibetan villages within the reserve. These villages include Zechawa, Shuzheng, Heijiao, Heye, Yala, Panya, Rexi, Jianpan, and Guodu. Currently, only three villages—Zechawa, Shuzheng, and Heye—remain open for tourism purposes.

Reed Lake

Shuzheng Waterfall
