Overview of Taichung International Airport
Taichung International Airport (RMQ), formerly known as Ching Chuan Kang Airport, is located in Taichung, approximately 21 km from the city center. It is the third-largest international airport in Taiwan, following Taoyuan International Airport and Kaohsiung International Airport.
Currently, the airport only accommodates international flights with a flight duration of around 4 to 6 hours. These include routes to Hong Kong, Macau, Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi), South Korea (Seoul - Incheon), Japan (Tokyo, Okinawa), Thailand (Bangkok), and Cambodia (Phnom Penh), among others. More international routes are expected to be added in the future.

Terminals at Taichung Airport
Taichung International Airport has two terminals: a domestic terminal and an international terminal.
Domestic Terminal
The domestic terminal covers an area of 10,054 m2 and is divided into several zones: lost baggage area, passenger waiting area, security check area, and check-in counters.
International Terminal
The international terminal spans 25,015 m2 and consists of 4 floors:
- Basement: This area includes the car parking lot, taxi stand, bus services, along with ATM machines, a baby room, and restrooms.

How to travel between the airport and Taichung city?
To travel between the airport and the city center, passengers can choose from the following options:
- Bus: There is no special bus service between the airport and the city center, only regular buses. At the airport's arrival hall, there are kiosks with information (in English) about the bus routes. For added convenience, passengers are advised to purchase I-Pass and EasyCards for 100 TWD (New Taiwan Dollar). Buses in Taichung offer free rides for up to 10 km when using one of these two cards.
- Taxi: The airport is relatively close to the city, making taxis the easiest and most convenient option. A taxi ride from the airport to most destinations in Taichung typically costs between 350 to 700 NTD. However, it’s important to note that most taxi drivers in Taichung do not speak English, so it’s recommended to print the address of your destination in Chinese to show the driver. All taxis in Taiwan charge based on a meter system.
- Car Rental: The car rental office at the airport is located in the northwest corner of the international terminal (Terminal 2).

Taichung Airport Operating Hours
Taichung International Airport is open from 6:00 AM until the last flight of the day departs. As a result, the airport closes at night, and passengers cannot stay overnight at the airport.

Since it is not possible to stay overnight at the airport, passengers can consider the following hotels nearby:
- Capital Hotel: Located 15 minutes by car from the airport. This hotel does not offer an airport shuttle service.
- Taichung Harbor Hotel: 15 minutes by car from the airport. The hotel offers an airport shuttle service, but passengers must book in advance. Note: Except for the 2:00 PM time frame, a service fee of 2,500 TWD applies for all other shuttle times.

WiFi/ Internet
At Taichung Airport, free WiFi is available. Additionally, the airport has an Internet zone with 5 computers for passenger use. This area is located in the international terminal's waiting hall, on the third floor, next to the children's play area.

The airport has several ATM machines located in both the Domestic Terminal on the first floor and the International Terminal on the first and second floors.

The luggage packing service counter is located in the departure hall of the international terminal, between the domestic and international terminals. Operating hours: 8:30 AM - 8:30 PM.

Flights from Vietnam to Taichung
Currently, the only domestic airline offering a direct flight from Vietnam to Taichung is VietJet Air, operating routes from Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City to Taichung. Additionally, Vietnam Airlines also provides flights to Taichung, but passengers will need to make 1-2 stopovers before landing at Taichung International Airport.
