For over six months, Tuyet Huong Village in Heilongjiang, China, remains covered in snow, presenting a magical landscape that feels like a scene from a fantasy world.
Tuyet Huong Village is constantly blanketed by snow.
Nestled beneath the Changbai Mountains, Tuyet Huong Village is located in Heilongjiang Province, China, at an elevation of 1,500 meters above sea level. Due to the warm air from the Sea of Japan and cold winds from Lake Baikal, the village experiences prolonged snow coverage for over half the year. In winter, the snow can accumulate up to 2 meters deep. The icy houses create a romantic, frosty scenery.

Although its breathtaking beauty, the village was once largely overlooked. It was a remote area with harsh weather, and most families lived in poverty, many forced to move. Over time, the village gained attention when captured by award-winning photographers. Notably, it was chosen as the backdrop for the Chinese version of the television show 'Dad, Where Are We Going?'.

Tuyet Huong Village experiences only two seasons: the snowy season and the thawing season. The weather here is almost always cold, with temperatures staying below freezing year-round, and never experiencing hot or humid conditions. The village covers about 17 hectares, providing unforgettable experiences. Visiting during the snowy season gives the feeling of stepping into a fairy tale. The low houses with slanted roofs, covered in thick snow, appear like white mushrooms from a distance.

A guide to reaching Tuyet Huong Village.
Since its rise to fame, Tuyet Huong Village has earned numerous titles, such as the place with the heaviest snowfall and the place with the clearest sunlight. What makes the snow here so special is its fine, powdery texture, which creates a fascinating experience. The snow is soft because it has a high level of adhesion, allowing visitors to marvel at the snow curtains hanging from rooftops or the delicate, thread-like icicles dripping from tree branches. The village even has a dedicated ski area where tourists can enjoy themselves to the fullest.

Tuyet Huong Village has three main entry points: Mao Dun Jiang, Wu Chang, and A Bo Li. If you’re traveling by bus from Harbin, the journey to the snow village takes approximately 6 hours. Alternatively, if you take a train from Harbin to Mao Dun Jiang, the travel time ranges from 2 to 6 hours depending on whether it's a fast or regular train. Afterward, a 3-hour bus ride will bring you to the village. Visitors can also take a bus from Changchun or Jilin, which takes about 8 hours.

The best time to visit Tuyet Huong Village is from December to March. In January, temperatures can drop as low as -20°C to -40°C. Be sure to pack plenty of warm clothing, including thermal wear, thick jackets, waterproof boots, snow hats, thermoses, and knee warmers to stay comfortable during your visit.
