Via dell'Amore stretches 1 km, being the most celebrated and romantic path along the Cinque Terre coastline. This smooth, stone-paved walkway offers stunning views of the cliffs and the sea.
The Via dell'Amore Trail
Since 1931, Via dell’Amore has become the most iconic walking trail in Cinque Terre, Italy. Carved into the coastal cliffs, this pathway links Riomaggiore and Manarola, two of the five seaside villages that make up the UNESCO World Heritage site.

In the 1920s, residents of these isolated villages, eager to connect, created this path. The construction of the trail symbolized cooperation among the communities, with many working together and risking their lives. There were no roads for cars in the area until the 1960s.

By the late 20th century, 'the most romantic road in the world' had become a popular destination for couples. However, Via dell’Amore has been closed since September 24, 2012, following a landslide, followed by a tsunami in 2018. The entire trail is set to reopen in July 2024.

The captivating beauty of the path

Visitors to this place feel as though they've stepped into another world. It's the perfect setting for couples to create unforgettable memories. Via dell’Amore is also a cultural and historical treasure. Tales of love and fidelity have been passed down through generations. Each stone and each wall is tied to a unique story. As a result, guests not only admire the natural beauty but also uncover fascinating tales along the way.

Each season of the year brings its own charm to the path. In spring, blooming flowers paint the landscape in vibrant colors. In summer, the sky is clear and the sea water is crystal clear. Autumn brings a romantic atmosphere as the leaves turn golden and red. In winter, the cold air and mist create an enchanting, mystical world.

Visitors can explore the starting point of Via dell'Amore and the entrance to Riomaggiore village with a ticket priced at 5 euros (approximately 137,000 VND). Children under 3 years old and people with disabilities are granted free admission. To prevent overcrowding, tickets must be booked in advance or purchased at ticket counters. The opening hours are from 9 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 7 pm, helping to manage the flow of visitors.
