Here are some important immigration policies to keep in mind when traveling to Taiwan.
The government of Taiwan has outlined specific groups of individuals who are permitted entry into Taiwan. The details are as follows:
- Individuals with Taiwanese nationality or foreign passengers holding an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) for long-term residence, excluding residence visas, are allowed entry for any purpose.
- Foreign workers must obtain permission to re-enter the country.
- Foreign nationals without a long-term residence permit (Alien Resident Certificate - ARC):
+ Allowed entry for emergency or humanitarian reasons;
+ Individuals who are spouses or minor children of Taiwanese citizens;
+ Students who have been granted permission by the Ministry of Education to study abroad;
+ Spouses or minor children of individuals with long-term residence permits (excluding foreign workers and students).
The Taiwanese government has specific regulations for various groups of passengers entering the country.
- Non-Taiwanese government officials are allowed entry under the following conditions:
+ Passengers arriving from China, Hong Kong, and Macau: They are permitted entry to Taiwan for fulfilling contractual obligations or for internal business exchanges within the company. For passengers with Chinese nationality, the company or organization inviting them must request special entry permission online through the national immigration registration system. Passengers from Hong Kong and Macau must apply for special entry permission at the Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office in Hong Kong/Macau or at the Taiwanese embassy.
+ Those with a different nationality: They may enter for official duties, investment purposes, fulfilling contract obligations, or work-related reasons. Passengers must request special entry permission at the Taiwanese embassy.
+ Those holding an APEC card must present it alongside a passport, ensuring that the passport details and nationality match the information on the APEC card.
Passengers from Taiwan should also be aware of special guidelines when booking flight tickets and entering Vietnam.
As of April 27, 2022, Vietnam has temporarily suspended the requirement for COVID-19 health declarations at all entry points for arriving passengers.
Given the nationwide control of the COVID-19 pandemic and the high vaccination coverage, the government and Ministry of Health decided to eliminate the health declaration process for incoming travelers. This decision simplifies the entry process and aids in the recovery of international tourism.
International travelers should be aware of the entry requirements for Vietnam that they need to follow.
- Công dân các quốc gia sau đây, khi nhập cảnh Việt Nam với thời hạn tạm trú 15 ngày, không phân biệt loại hộ chiếu, mục đích nhập cảnh, trên cơ sở đáp ứng đủ các điều kiện theo quy định của pháp luật Việt Nam sẽ được miễn thị thực: Cộng hòa liên bang Đức, Cộng hòa Pháp, Cộng hòa Italia, Vương quốc Tây Ban Nha, Liên hiệp Vương quốc Anh và Bắc Ai-len, Liên Bang Nga, Nhật Bản, Hàn Quốc, Đan Mạch, Thụy Điển, Na Uy, Phần Lan và Bê-la-rút. Hiệu lực áp dụng: từ ngày 15/3/2022 đến hết ngày 14/03/2025.
Bắt đầu từ ngày 27/4/2022, Việt Nam tạm dừng việc áp dụng khai báo y tế với COVID-19 tại tất cả các cửa khẩu của Việt Nam đối với khách nhập cảnh
- Nếu là người nước ngoài trong khuôn khổ các điều ước quốc tế mà Việt Nam là thành viên hoặc là công dân nước có chính sách miễn thị thực trên cơ sở có đi có lại với Việt Nam được miễn thị thực khi nhập cảnh.
- Foreign nationals and Vietnamese citizens residing abroad, along with their accompanying family members, who hold valid documents (permanent residence card, temporary residence card, visa, or valid visa exemption) are allowed entry into Vietnam. These travelers do not need to undergo personnel checks, reapply for visas or visa exemption documents, nor seek approval from local authorities for entry.
