To accommodate the increasing demand for travel, tourism, and to create more opportunities for trade, cultural exchanges, and educational collaborations between Vietnam and China, Vietnam Airlines, the national carrier, aims to have its flight network to China fully restored by around April 2023.
Specifically, from March 2023,
- Reintroduce the Hanoi – Beijing route with a frequency of 3 flights per week.
- Increase the frequency of flights connecting Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City with Guangzhou/Shanghai to 4 flights per week for each route.
Additionally, starting in April 2023,
- Reopen 4 flight routes: Between Da Nang and Guangzhou/Shanghai/Chengdu, and between Hanoi and Chengdu, with a frequency of 2 flights per week on each route.

- It is expected that by April 2023, Vietnam Airlines will have fully restored the Vietnam-China flight routes.
- Previously, on December 9, 2022, the national carrier Vietnam Airlines officially resumed several flight routes between Vietnam and China, including:
- Round-trip flights between Guangzhou/Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City: Frequency of 1 flight per week, with the Guangzhou-Ho Chi Minh City flight operating on Fridays and the Shanghai-Ho Chi Minh City flight on Wednesdays.
- Round-trip flights between Shanghai and Hanoi: Frequency of 2 flights per week, operating on Mondays and Fridays.
- By April this year, travelers between the two countries will be able to travel with full confidence and flexibility. Whether for business, tourism, or education, flying from major Vietnamese cities like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang to famous Chinese cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Guangzhou will be extremely easy and convenient.
- In addition to continuing the restoration of flight routes, Vietnam Airlines is also increasing the frequency of previously launched routes to better meet the travel demand of passengers between the two countries.
- Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang are major cities in Vietnam, known not only for their famous scenic spots but also for their rich historical and cultural heritage. Meanwhile, Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Guangzhou in China are popular tourist destinations drawing visitors from around the world. This is a great opportunity for both Vietnam and China to boost tourism, enhance economic cooperation, and exchange cultural experiences, offering new and meaningful experiences after the long impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
