The newly constructed Vietnam Military History Museum, located in Tay Mo Ward, Dai Mo, Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi, will open its doors for free from November 1st until the end of the year.
New Vietnam Military History Museum
The Vietnam Military History Museum, funded by the Ministry of National Defense since 2019, spans an area of 386,600 square meters. The museum boasts a modern design with multifunctional features. Its architecture is not just a space for historical exhibits but also a communal area for visitors to interact and engage. The museum currently houses over 150,000 artifacts, including four national treasures.

The museum employs innovative display methods, integrating 3D mapping dioramas, interactive information screens, multimedia photo archives, and audioguide systems. Additionally, QR codes are used to provide detailed information about artifacts, images, and over 60 video clips showcasing historical campaigns, battles, and figures.

The Vietnam Military History Museum complex stands out with its front courtyard and the 45-meter-high Victory Tower. The main building consists of four above-ground floors and one basement. The exterior space on the right displays weapons and equipment used by French and American forces during the war in Vietnam, including artillery, infantry fighting vehicles, and tanks. The left side features weapons and equipment used by the Vietnamese military and people.

Exhibition Areas and Halls
The main hall features the 'Silver Swallow' MiG-21 fighter jet, numbered 4324, suspended from cables attached to the ceiling. This display creates the illusion of the aircraft soaring into action to defend the skies. Recognized as a National Treasure on January 14, 2015, the jet is accompanied by a large LED screen showcasing Vietnam's beauty, history, culture, and traditions.

The Vietnam Military History Museum on the first floor is divided into six themes. Theme 1: The Early Days of Nation Building and Defense. Theme 2: Protecting Independence from 939 to 1858. Theme 3: Resistance Against French Colonialism and the Struggle for National Independence from 1858 to 1945. Theme 4: The War Against French Colonial Invaders from 1945 to 1954. Theme 5: The Anti-American Resistance from 1954 to 1975. Theme 6: Building and Defending the Nation from 1976 to the Present.

In Theme 4, alongside artifacts, there are vivid 1:1 scale dioramas. These models recreate the streets of Hanoi during the 60-day battle to defend the capital. The themes are arranged chronologically with a logical layout. Each artifact is meticulously labeled and accompanied by event details. The exhibits are presented through diverse formats, including text, images, and interactive screens.
