According to the latest update from the Henley Passport Index, the strength of the Vietnam passport has been ranked 91st, dropping one spot compared to the end of 2024.
Have you ever wondered how “powerful” the Vietnam passport is for global travel? At the start of 2025, the Henley Passport Index was released, and unfortunately, the Vietnam passport fell to 91st place, down one spot from late 2024. The Henley Passport Index reveals that the Vietnam passport has experienced two consecutive drops since January 2024. From 87th place at the beginning of last year, it fell to 90th in Q3 and now stands at 91st.
Vietnam Passport Drops One Spot on the Henley Ranking

Despite the ranking shift, entry privileges remain largely unchanged. Vietnamese citizens can currently enter 51 destinations without a visa or with just an e-visa, visa on arrival, or electronic travel authorization (ETA). Popular destinations for Vietnamese travelers include Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos, Maldives, Panama, and Taiwan, among others. So, if you’re dreaming of exploring paradise beaches or unique cultures, there are still plenty of opportunities for #teamMytour to travel freely.
Singapore Continues to Hold the World’s Most Powerful Passport
Compared to neighboring countries, the Vietnam passport ranks above Laos (93rd) and Myanmar (94th), but falls behind nations like Thailand, Philippines, and especially Singapore – the country with the world’s most powerful passport. With a Singaporean passport, citizens can visit 195 countries without a visa.

On a global scale, Singapore tops the Henley Index, followed by countries like Germany, Italy, and Japan. On the other end, nations at the bottom of the list include Afghanistan (106th), Syria (105th), Iraq (104th), Yemen, and Pakistan (joint 103rd), with visa-free access to only about 26-33 destinations.

The Henley & Partners ranking is based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) – the world’s largest and most accurate travel information source. Since 2006, the Henley Passport Index has regularly published rankings 2-3 times a year, reflecting the travel freedom of nations.
Besides Henley, Arton Capital is another reputable organization evaluating passport power. According to Arton’s 2025 Global Passport Ranking, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has surpassed Singapore to claim the top spot, thanks to its proactive diplomacy and extensive visa-free agreements.
With a Vietnam Passport in Hand, the World is Still Full of Exploration Potential

Despite the slight drop in ranking, Vietnamese citizens still have ample opportunities to explore the world. Enhancing passport power depends on diplomatic policies and expanding visa-free agreements. While the Vietnam passport may not be the most powerful, it doesn’t limit your journey to discover the world. Rankings are just part of the story; the real essence lies in your passion and readiness to explore.
