What are the carry-on baggage policies of Hong Kong Airlines?

Hong Kong Airlines offers two classes of service: Business Class and Economy Class. The carry-on baggage regulations for these two classes differ slightly. Below, you’ll find the details for each.

Business Class passengers on Hong Kong Airlines are allowed to bring 2 pieces of carry-on luggage into the cabin. Each item must not exceed 45 inches in total (56x36x23cm) and should not weigh more than 7kg (15lbs).

Economy Class passengers flying with Hong Kong Airlines are allowed to bring 1 piece of carry-on luggage, with a maximum size of 45 inches (56x36x23cm) and a maximum weight of 7kg (15lbs).

- Hong Kong Airlines allows passengers to carry duty-free items in their carry-on baggage.

- Carry-on baggage that exceeds the allowed weight or size must be checked in.

- In addition to free carry-on and checked baggage, passengers may also bring certain items that do not count towards their baggage weight allowance, including:

+ Small handbag

+ Laptop bag

+ Small backpack

+ Camera bag

+ Handbag

- At the boarding gate, any carry-on luggage that exceeds the weight or size limit, or cannot be properly stored in the aircraft cabin, will be held back. Excessive carry-on baggage will incur a fee of 500 HKD per item (whether checked baggage is used or not).

- Passengers are advised to arrive at the boarding gate at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time to allow ample time for baggage arrangements. To ensure timely departures, Hong Kong Airlines reserves the right to refuse boarding to late passengers.

Liquids, aerosols, and gels (LAGs) are not prohibited in the sterile area or aboard the passenger aircraft under Hong Kong Airlines’ carry-on baggage rules. However, the airline enforces certain restrictions on these items as follows:

- Chất lỏng, dung dịch xịt và gel phải được đựng trong các chai/lọ/hộp có dung tích tối đa không quá 100ml cho 1 chai/lọ/hộp. Vật chứa lớn hơn 100ml đều không được chấp nhận, ngay cả khi chỉ chứa đầy 1 phần. 

- Chai/lọ đựng chất lỏng, dung dịch xịt và gel phải được đặt trong 01 túi nhựa trong suốt có dung tích tối đa 1 lít, có khóa kéo hoặc khóa zip kín hoàn toàn. Mỗi hành khách chỉ được phép mang theo 01 túi nhựa này. Tại cổng an ninh sân bay, hành khách cần xuất trình riêng túi này để kiểm tra.

- LAGs gồm những vật phẩm sau: Đồ uống (kể cả nước và nước trái cây); súp và nước sốt; nước hoa và chất khử mùi (bao gồm hỗn hợp chất lỏng hoặc chất rắn); kem, dầu thơm; đồ mĩ phẩm (mascara, son bóng…); bột nhão (bao gồm cả kem đánh răng); xà phòng (bao gồm cả bọt cạo râu); gel (bao gồm cả sữa tắm, dầu gội); dung dịch kính áp tròng… và một số vật phẩm khác có tính chất tương tự.

- Các chất lỏng, dung dịch xịt và gel được miễn các quy định trên gồm: 

+ Các loại thuốc mang đủ trong thời gian bay, được kê đơn và có chữ ký xác nhận của bác sĩ chuyên khoa.

+ Baby food (e.g., milk, fruit juice, sterilized water, etc.) in reasonable quantities, sufficient for the duration of the flight, and the child must be traveling with the passenger.

+ Special dietary food items required by the passenger, which are essential for their health and well-being, and would be harmful if not available.

+ Tools used by airport staff to access the sterile area and the aircraft.

+ Liquids, aerosols, and gels over 100ml (such as alcohol, perfumes purchased at Hong Kong International Airport or other airports) with a clear receipt, placed in a transparent bag for easy inspection.
