Aubrey Plaza has addressed the public after the passing of her husband Jeff Baena on Friday, January 3.

The 40-year-old actress, along with Jeff’s family, released a statement to People on Monday, describing their loss as an 'unimaginable tragedy.'
The Los Angeles County coroner's office previously confirmed that Jeff died by suicide in his Los Angeles home. He was 47 years old.
“This is a devastating loss. We are truly thankful for everyone who has shown their support. We kindly ask for privacy as we navigate through this difficult time,” the statement expressed.

Aubrey and Jeff began their relationship in 2011, eventually marrying ten years later. They initially kept their wedding a secret, but in May 2021, Aubrey revealed their union by referring to Jeff as her “darling husband” in an Instagram post.

A representative later confirmed to People that the couple had gotten married.
Jeff was a highly regarded indie filmmaker and writer, making his directorial debut with Life After Beth in 2014, a film in which Aubrey played the lead role of the titular character.

He also co-wrote the 2004 dark comedy I Heart Huckabees, featuring Dustin Hoffman and Jude Law.
On Sunday, director Brady Corbet paid tribute to Jeff during his acceptance speech for the Best Director – Motion Picture Golden Globe for his film The Brutalist.

As he concluded his heartfelt acceptance speech, Brady addressed the star-filled crowd, saying: “Tonight, my thoughts are with Aubrey Plaza and Jeff's family.”
