Rami Malek spoke candidly about a tense encounter with the police that left him shaken.

In a recent interview with the Guardian, the Oscar-winning actor — who hails from Egypt — shared how he was once racially profiled by the Los Angeles Police Department.

"I was thrown onto the hood of an LAPD patrol car because someone had stolen from a liquor store and taken a woman's bag," he remembered, adding that the suspect was described as "of Latin descent."

"You match the description," he recalled the police telling him.

"I remember how hot that engine was, they must have been speeding over there, it almost burned my hands," he said, adding that he was only let go because his "Caucasian" friend "was quick enough to say, 'Actually, sir, he’s Egyptian. Not Latin.'"
