Emotional Jimmy Kimmel made his return to TV on Monday night, following a brief hiatus after cancelling several shows due to the devastating fires that have been ravaging Los Angeles.

With tears barely contained, Kimmel shared his personal experience of family, friends, and colleagues being forced to evacuate, with some losing their homes. 'I think I speak for all of us when I say it has been a shocking, gut-wrenching ordeal,' Kimmel shared. His voice cracked as he spoke. 'But amidst the chaos, there has also been a sense of unity, as we once again witness how people come together to support one another,' he said. 'Even those who lost everything were volunteering to help others who had lost their homes.'

Kimmel refrained from commenting on the attacks made by President-elect Donald Trump and other right-wing figures who have tried to exploit the tragedy for political gain. 'I’m not going to dignify the vile, irresponsible, and absurd remarks made by our supposed future president and his entourage during one of our city’s darkest, most frightening moments,' he remarked. 'It’s revolting that they chose to target our firefighters, suggesting they’re somehow 'not white enough' to be out there risking their lives for us, but sadly, it’s not surprising.' Instead, Kimmel turned his focus to the people in and around the city who have been helping others in this time of need.
