Hey there! I'm Shelby, a smoothie enthusiast who can't start the day without one. Living in Los Angeles, I've taken it upon myself to sample every celebrity-endorsed smoothie at Erewhon.

Here I am, sipping away my savings.
For those unfamiliar, Erewhon is an ultra-luxurious grocery store in LA, famous for its sky-high prices. Their smoothies are no different, typically costing between $17 and $20.
As part of my never-ending smoothie journey, I've sampled Marianna Hewitt's Cloud Smoothie and Hailey Bieber's Strawberry Skin Smoothie, both of which were available at Erewhon for a limited time during spring and summer.

I felt indifferent about the Cloud smoothie, but the Strawberry Skin smoothie was a total favorite. It still crosses my mind from time to time.
This fall, Erewhon has introduced another exclusive smoothie, this time in collaboration with Kourtney Kardashian! Named the Poosh Potion Detox Smoothie (of course), it’s priced at $18.
Honestly, it looks fantastic (I’m totally here for the eerie autumn aesthetic).

According to Poosh's website, here’s what’s inside:
—Bananas
—Blueberries
—Avocado
—Harmless Harvest coconut water
—Harmless Harvest vanilla coconut yogurt
—MALK almond milk
—Schizandu charcoal powder
—Neocell hyaluronic acid
—BLK fulvic drops
—Four Sigmatic vanilla protein powder
—Maple syrup
—Cacao powder
—Zuma Valley coconut cream
Just like with the previous ones, I headed straight to my nearest Erewhon and made a beeline for the tonic bar. The Poosh smoothie was prominently showcased:

And yes, it was priced at a cool $18:

I arrived at the store early, so fortunately, there wasn’t much of a wait for my smoothie. Here’s how it looked right after being blended:

Absolutely stunning. It resembled a dark, marbled surface.
I didn’t hesitate to take a sip, and my initial thought was that it was incredibly creamy with a strong banana flavor. I waited for other flavors to emerge, but honestly, they didn’t. It primarily tasted like bananas and cream.

I stirred the smoothie with my straw to see if other flavors would emerge, but it remained consistent throughout. It wasn’t unpleasant, but it lacked that wow factor that would make me rush back to Erewhon for another. In my opinion, it was a bit plain, though still enjoyable. I finished the entire thing, though.

Here it is fully mixed.
Even though Kourtney's Poosh smoothie wasn’t my top favorite, I decided to attempt making it at home. My goals were twofold: a.) to see if it could be more affordable, and b.) to determine if it’s possible to recreate for those who don’t live near an Erewhon or don’t want to spend nearly $20 on a drink (I totally get it!!!).
Here are all the ingredients I purchased. While I hoped making the smoothie at home would save money, my grocery total came to a staggering $94.87!!! The Four Sigmatic protein powder was the main culprit, though it’s a large tub that can be used for other recipes. With the other ingredients, I bought enough to make 4-5 smoothies, bringing the cost per smoothie to around $18 (basically the same as buying it at Erewhon, lol).

I purchased most of the ingredients at my local Whole Foods, so you might find them cheaper elsewhere. I also skipped the hyaluronic acid and BLK drops since I couldn’t find them during my shopping trip, and I assumed they wouldn’t significantly affect the flavor.
Since Erewhon doesn’t share precise measurements for its smoothie recipes, I relied on my own judgment. Here’s the recipe I came up with:
—1/2 cup Harmless Harvest Organic Coconut Water
—4.4 oz container of Harmless Harvest Vanilla Flavored Dairy-Free Coconut Yogurt Alternative
—1/2 cup MALK Almond Milk
—1 tbsp. Four Sigmatic Sweet Vanilla Protein Powder
—1 tsp. Charcoal
—1 tbsp. Maple Syrup
—2 tsp. Cacao Powder
—1/2 Avocado
—1/2 cup Blueberries
—1 Banana
—Zuma Valley Coconut Cream to taste
*Having made countless smoothies in my life, I felt fairly confident about these measurements. However, if you’d like to explore other copycat recipes, I came across this one and this one.
Preparing the smoothie was relatively simple (aside from a few hiccups I’ll mention later). Essentially, I blended all the ingredients together, except for the coconut cream. After adding almost everything to my blender, it was looking quite packed.

I was seriously concerned it might spill over.
At this stage, all that was left was adding the protein powder, charcoal powder, and cacao powder. This is when things went south: The charcoal powder ended up everywhere. It covered my hands, the counter, and even my sweatshirt sleeves. While trying to clean up, I accidentally knocked over the open cacao powder pouch, and it spilled ALL OVER my kitchen floor!!!

Absolutely crushing.
After spending about 15 minutes cleaning up the cacao mess, I was pretty fed up with the whole process. However, I tried not to let my clumsiness affect my opinion of the smoothie! I added all the powders and was finally ready to blend!

Once everything was blended, it looked just as dark and charcoal-infused as Kourtney’s version. I was thrilled!

Next, I took a glass and added some coconut cream to replicate the eerie marbled effect of the original smoothie.

After switching to a red wine glass because the first one was too small (my bad), I poured in the smoothie mixture.

The final result was slightly lighter in color, but overall, I was quite pleased with how it turned out!

Now, for the taste test. As you can see, I’m still figuring out how to take a decent photo of myself drinking through a straw.

In terms of taste, my homemade version was VERY close to the original Poosh smoothie. Once again, it mostly tasted like bananas and cream, though I think mine had a SLIGHT hint of blueberry. The original was a bit sweeter, so I probably should’ve added more maple syrup. I still finished the whole thing, but again, it lacked that wow-factor.

Overall, I’d rate the Kourtney Kardashian Poosh Potion Detox Smoothie a 3/5. It’s undeniably beautiful and relatively easy to make, but for $18, I expected a bit more excitement. Since making it at home is also quite costly, I don’t see myself making it repeatedly. That said, it’s still perfect for a stunning Instagram post!
