Shawn Mendes seems to have finally spoken out about the ongoing rumors linking him romantically to both Camila Cabello and Sabrina Carpenter.

For those unfamiliar with the backstory, here’s a quick recap: Shawn and Camila started dating in 2019 after being close friends for years, but went their separate ways in 2021. They briefly reunited in 2023, only to split once more in June of that year.

Just before Shawn and Camila got back together in 2023, rumors surfaced about Shawn and Sabrina, as a source revealed to Entertainment Tonight that the duo was “aiming to keep things under the radar.”

Although Shawn publicly refuted any romantic involvement with Sabrina, her 2024 album Short n’ Sweet seemed to hint at a different story.

Sabrina appeared to allude to both Shawn and Camila multiple times in her popular album, with fans pointing to her track “Taste” as the most direct reference. In the song, she croons, “I heard you’re back together, and if that’s true / You’ll just have to taste me when he’s kissin’ you.”
Similarly, Camila’s June 2024 album C, XOXO seems to contain subtle nods to Sabrina, particularly in the song “June Gloom,” which is rumored to reflect Camila’s emotions about her ex moving on while still harboring feelings for her.
In an upcoming episode of John Mayer’s SiriusXM show Life with John Mayer, Shawn appears to have touched on the rumored overlap between his relationships with the two women.

In a preview clip shared on Wednesday, Shawn reflects on a previous relationship, admitting he once confessed to an unnamed partner that he still had “unresolved emotions” for a former lover.

“I’m in a relationship. Two days before meeting up with my ex, [I] mentioned that I was going to see them because I still had unresolved feelings,” Shawn explained.

Unresolved feelings? Quick, everyone act surprised!
With an awkward grin, he adds, “Maybe instead of two days, it should have been two weeks.”

John gently probed Shawn about his approach to the situation, inquiring, “Is there anything in all of this where you’d admit, ‘Yeah, I handled that poorly?’”

“None of those therapists understand what it’s like to live as a famous musician,” Shawn responded.

“The most important lesson I’ve learned is that everyone experiences pain in life, and everyone inevitably causes pain to others,” Shawn reflected, with John wholeheartedly agreeing.
