When you think about superheroes, names like Batman, Superman, and Spiderman probably come to mind. However, superheroes around the world offer much more diversity and creativity than just the familiar Marvel and DC characters. Here’s a look at some of the most outlandish ones.
10. Superdupont (France)

Superdupont is a superhero born entirely from French stereotypes.
Superdupont’s true identity remains a mystery, but it is believed that he is the son of an unknown soldier buried beneath the Arc de Triomphe. Created as a parody of the quintessential French image, he is often seen sporting a beret, smoking, drinking wine, and enjoying French cheese, occasionally even carrying a baguette. His powers include superhuman strength, invulnerability, and the ability to fly. Additionally, he can fire a magical ray from his hands that can cure gonorrhea.
9. Generation Tesla (Serbia)

Nikola Tesla assembles a team of superheroes to combat evil forces.
Generation Tesla is a superhero team created by the internet’s beloved underdog scientist, Nikola Tesla. In this Serbian comic, Tesla cheats death—likely orchestrated by his rival Edison—by transferring to an alternate plane of existence.
In this new realm, Tesla resurrects a group of humans who were killed by a villain known as Kobalt. He then transforms them into superheroes to fight against evil, all the while trying his best not to step into X-Men territory.
8. The Golem (Israel)

The Superhero Golem defends the Jewish people from demons and vampires.
Not to be confused with Marvel's characters bearing the same name, this Golem is a superhero from Israel with various origin tales. In one version, his powers come from a scientist's invention. Another narrative attributes his abilities to the Seal of King Solomon. A third explanation involves radiation, much like Godzilla and other such creatures. Known as the protector of the Jewish people, his foes include an Arabian demon, a Canaanite god, and a vampire.
The Golem has an intricate backstory, which even includes an alternate universe where Jack Kirby creates The Golem instead of Captain America. In one iconic comic cover, The Golem is shown punching Hitler in the face, reminiscent of the famous Captain America cover where he does the same.
7. The Rapeman (Japan)

Rapeman, a hero who seeks justice through acts of penetration.
Oh, Japan.
In the satirical manga *Rapeman*, the protagonist Keiko Uasake is a high school teacher by day and a vigilante by night. As his alter ego, he operates a peculiar business called 'Rapeman Services' with his uncle, offering a bizarre form of justice. Their slogan: 'Righting wrongs through penetration.'
6. Mercury Man (Thailand)

A former firefighter named Chan and his transgender sister team up to fight crime!
Mercury Man is Thailand's take on the superhero genre. After being struck by an ancient Tibetan amulet, firefighter Chan is transformed into a superhero. Alongside his transgender sister, a boxer, he battles evil. Their main adversary is a terrorist named Osama bin Ali, who plans to destroy the United States instead of Thailand. Apparently, Thailand is not on his radar. At one point, Chan even battles an elephant.
5. Zooman: The Human Fly (Mexico)

Zooman – much like Spiderman, but with a twist: he uses his powers to look up girls’ skirts.
In the 60s, Stan Lee created a superhero with various spider-inspired abilities. At the time, many thought it was a ridiculous concept, but fast-forward 50 years and four movies later, Spiderman is now one of the most recognizable superheroes worldwide. The formula works: take an ordinary person, give them animal-themed powers, and you’ve got comic book success.
For reasons unknown, this Mexican creator chose a fly as the basis for his superhero. It’s already strange enough, but the hero’s escapades include shrinking down to battle angry spiders and, unbelievably, peeping up skirts. Seriously.
4. Devilman (Japan)

Akira Fudo is a shy teenager who is suddenly possessed by a demon, but uses his pure heart to control the demon's evil nature.
Devilman is a character from a famous Japanese manga. Akira Fudo is a boy who becomes possessed by a demon after a mass shooting at a club, orchestrated by his friend Ryo, who is secretly the son of Satan. Fortunately, Akira’s good nature and pure heart allow him to control the demon’s power, transforming him into Devilman.
Eventually, Devilman faces Satan in battle and brings about the Apocalypse.
3. El Bulbo or The Bulb (Mexico)

Born from magic and lightbulbs, El Bulbo takes on history's greatest villain – Light Bulb Hitler.
Yes, Mexico has a superhero lightbulb.
El Bulbo is a lightbulb with superpowers. He came into being when someone, inexplicably, cast a spell on an old television set, bringing the lightbulbs inside it to life. The reason for wasting magic on a TV was never explained.
One of the lightbulbs believed it was Adolf Hitler and named itself 'Adolfo'. To counter this, another bulb put on a cape and became 'El Bulbo'. Meanwhile, the other lightbulbs in the TV went about their normal lives, paying taxes and contributing to society.
2. Zsazsa Zaturnnah (Philippines)

Zsazsa gains her powers by eating a magic meteorite. Over and over again.
Zsazsa Zaturnnah is a well-known Filipino superhero whose adventures have made it to both the big screen and the stage in musicals. And yes, ‘his’ is intentional—Zsazsa is a man, or at least part-time. Sometimes.
Ada, a gay beautician from a sleepy town where nothing remarkable ever happens, experiences a life-changing event when a pink, spiky meteorite crashes into his home while he's bathing. Recognizing the potential of the magic stone, he swallows it—because what could go wrong? Fortunately, instead of perishing, Ada transforms into a powerful Amazonian woman, and from that moment on, each time he desires to change, he simply swallows the meteorite again and again. Think about it.
1. Super Commando Dhruva India

Dhruva is a superhero with the ability to communicate with animals, and he's driven by a thirst for vengeance.
