[WARNING: This list includes graphic fictional scenes.] Cinephiles have often pointed out that some on-screen deaths are utterly implausible. Examples include sinking in quicksand, being choked to death in less than 60 seconds, or decapitation with a single knife swipe.
Horror films take this to another level, often fueled by the twisted imaginations of Hollywood creators. Characters are shredded by barbed wire fences, have their eyes explode during laser procedures, or are crushed by airborne car engines. Heads are even split open by falling gym equipment—all from a single movie series.
This list highlights 10 more absurdly exaggerated horror movie deaths that, thankfully, are unlikely to occur in reality.
10. A single stomp can do the trick

In *Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers*, Myers, presumed dead, is being transported in an ambulance. Shockingly, he suddenly sits up, mimicking a move from *The Undertaker*, and drives his thumb into a paramedic’s skull, killing him instantly. While this scene is visually striking, it’s completely unrealistic in real life.
Myers doesn’t stop there with his improbable kills. In *Halloween (2018)*, he tears open a man’s jaw to yank out his teeth and later crushes his psychiatrist’s head with a single stomp, creating one of the most gruesome moments in the film.
9. Beware of the wire

The opening scene of *Ghost Ship* is iconic in horror cinema but also wildly unrealistic. A wire sweeps across the deck of a ship, slicing through partygoers and cutting them in half.
Though this scene is undeniably chilling and difficult for sensitive viewers to watch, it’s highly implausible. A single wire cutting through so many people, along with obstacles like ribs and spines, makes it far from believable.
Even *MythBusters* attempted to validate the idea of a cable slicing someone in half but found no substantial evidence to confirm its feasibility.
8. The glass pane that erases bones

As highlighted earlier, a particular film series has built its reputation on crafting increasingly exaggerated, implausible, yet wildly entertaining death scenes. Each installment strives to surpass the last, featuring bizarrely flexible gymnasts, fatalities involving bricks, bathtub mishaps, and grotesquely twisted bodies.
One death scene, however, stood out so much that fans repeatedly paused and replayed it. In *Final Destination 2*, Tim Carpenter narrowly avoids choking during a dental visit and later escapes electrocution. But Death had a far more straightforward plan for him.
In his final moments, Carpenter exits a building, scares off a flock of pigeons, and is promptly crushed by a massive falling glass pane, reducing him to a gelatinous state. Questions about where his bones disappeared to would only spoil the absurdity of the scene.
7. Bisected by... yet more glass

This entry features more glass, this time in the form of a door. Released in 2001, *Thirteen Ghosts* introduced audiences to a collection of eerie figures, including The Torso, The Great Child, The Angry Princess, and The Jackal, all haunting a sinister house.
Alongside these terrifying entities came a series of gruesome deaths: one man is sliced in half by a car, another is shredded by spinning rings, and a woman is crushed between two glass walls.
The most memorable death occurs when an arrogant lawyer, ignoring the ghostly residents, ventures into the basement to retrieve a case filled with money. As he attempts to leave, he is pursued by The Angry Princess and is hilariously cut in half by a sliding glass door. His front half slides down the glass while his back half remains momentarily stuck on the other side, leaving a priceless expression of shock on his face.
6. My eyes!

Completing the glass-themed trio, this entry involves ordinary eyeglasses.
*Carrie* debuted in 1976, with a sequel, *The Rage: Carrie 2*, following in 1999. The film draws inspiration from real-life events involving a group of California high school boys known as the Spur Posse, who committed rapes and sexual assaults and kept a points system to track their heinous acts.
The protagonist, Rachel, is driven to fury after her friend takes her own life following humiliation by a football player she had been intimate with. Rachel reports the incident to the sheriff, who tries to charge the player, Eric, with statutory rape. This provokes Eric’s friends, who retaliate against Rachel, unaware of her telekinetic abilities.
Rachel eventually unleashes her vengeance. In the film’s climax, Eric, his friend Mark, and Mark’s girlfriend Monica confront Rachel with harpoon guns. Using her powers, Rachel shatters Monica’s glasses, blinding her. In a chaotic moment, Monica accidentally shoots Eric, leading to both of their deaths. This scene is a must-watch to fully grasp its impact.
5. Apparently, you can microwave anything

*The Last House on the Left* is another tale fueled by revenge. A gang viciously attacks two young girls, murdering one and sexually assaulting the other. Mari, the survivor of the assault, escapes and leaps into a lake, only to be shot in the back by her attacker.
The gang later takes refuge from a violent storm at a nearby house, unaware it belongs to Mari’s parents. When Mari is discovered alive, her parents uncover the truth about their guests. The couple devises a plan for retribution, severely injuring the rapist, Krug, leaving him paralyzed. In a final act of vengeance, Mari’s father, John, places Krug’s head in a microwave and turns it on, resulting in a grotesque explosion.
This scene is an exaggerated, gory spectacle that defies logic, as microwaves don’t function with open doors. However, given Krug’s heinous actions, viewers are willing to overlook this detail. You can watch the clip here.
4. No veggies, no dessert!

*Sleepwalkers* is an odd film, though this is typical of Stephen King’s works. The story revolves around two incestuous Sleepwalkers—a mother and son—who prey on virgin women and are terrified of cats, which can see through their human disguises. Despite receiving poor reviews upon its 1992 release, the movie has garnered a cult following over the years.
The movie is packed with absurd moments, such as the Sleepwalker son severing a man’s hand and then… literally handing it back to him (pun fully intended). The film also features hilariously cheesy dialogue. In one scene, the Sleepwalker mother, Mary Brady, sneaks up behind a police officer on the phone and stabs him in the back. Her weapon? A corncob. The scene’s highlight is Mary’s closing line: “No vegetables, no dessert. That’s the rule.”
3. Blended

Released in 2011, *You’re Next* follows a group of estranged siblings who reunite for their parents’ wedding anniversary dinner at their childhood home. As the evening unfolds, the family is ambushed by mysterious attackers intent on killing them all.
Unbeknownst to the assailants, one of the siblings, Crispian, has a girlfriend, Erin, who is a fierce fighter. Using her survival skills, Erin retaliates with brutal efficiency, stabbing and bludgeoning the attackers with a meat tenderizer.
The plot thickens when it’s revealed that one sibling, Felix, and his partner Zee orchestrated the attack for financial gain (inheritance). When they attempt to kill Erin, she outsmarts them, killing Felix with a blender. She smashes it into his face, forces the broken carafe onto his head, and activates the blender, turning his brain into a grotesque smoothie. Erin then finishes Zee by driving a knife into her skull.
2. Superman… er… Jason punch!

Jason Voorhees ranks among the most chilling killers in horror cinema. While he may not match Michael Myers’ infamy, his iconic hockey mask has terrified audiences globally. Jason has appeared in numerous *Friday the 13th* films and even battled Freddy Krueger in *Freddy vs. Jason*.
Released in 1989, *Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan* is often considered one of the franchise’s weaker entries. The film follows Jason as he pursues high school students, first aboard a ship and later in New York City.
True to form, the movie is packed with gruesome killings, including deaths by a sauna rock, a spear gun stabbing, throat slashing, and toxic waste drowning.
The most visually shocking (and unintentionally hilarious) moment occurs when a victim attempts to fight back, only to be met with a single, devastating punch from Jason that sends his head flying off and landing in a nearby dumpster.
1. Pancakes of doom

Released in 2015, *Lumberjack Man* is a comedic horror film that delivers hilariously over-the-top kills. However, it stands out for its creative use of food as a murder weapon, taking the concept to absurd new heights.
The antagonist, Lumber Jack, terrorizes teens and staff during a retreat at an annual camp. Armed with a saw, axes, and a rolling griddle that cooks massive pancakes, he slaughters the teenagers and uses their blood as syrup for the pancakes. The film features a variety of gruesome deaths, including axe murders, spike impalements, a bizarre scene where a girl’s breast implants are ripped out through her back, and a police officer whose heart is torn out and shoved into his mouth.
The most memorable death, however, belongs to Courtney, who is brutally beaten to death with a giant… you guessed it… pancake.
