Traditionally, it's topped with a maraschino cherry and an orange slice—just like how your grandfather might have enjoyed it. Once considered a vintage favorite, the Amaretto Sour has had a major resurgence in popularity.
However, we wanted to elevate our cocktail game. So, we decided to give this beloved sweet and nutty drink a twist and turn it into a frozen delight. Enter the Amaretto Sour Slushie, cool and irresistible.
How to Prepare an Amaretto Slushie
Start with the simple syrup. To make it, just dissolve equal parts sugar and water. In a saucepan, combine ¼ cup sugar and ¼ cup water, stirring over medium heat until the sugar dissolves—this should take about 1 to 2 minutes. Let it cool. Then, in a blender, pulse ½ cup of Amaretto liqueur (such as Disaronno), the juice of 1 lemon (roughly 3 tablespoons), 2 tablespoons of simple syrup, and 2 ½ cups of ice until it reaches a slushie consistency. Pour into two glasses and garnish each with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry.
This easy-to-make Amaretto Sour slushie recipe can be doubled or tripled to serve more. For another frozen favorite, don’t forget about frosé. And for a non-alcoholic treat (or dessert), a malted frozen hot chocolate will always be a crowd-pleaser.
