Winter seems endless, and I can't say I'm enjoying it. While signs of spring, like crocuses pushing through the soil, offer some hope, they aren't enough to lift my spirits. To combat the gloom, I've turned to tropical-inspired drinks.
Daiquiris are a personal favorite, especially when made with Plantation pineapple rum. Lately, I decided to skip the usual simple syrup and instead used the last bit of my Luxardo maraschino liqueur. This addition brought a delightful almond-cherry flavor, making the drink fruity, uplifting, and utterly delicious. Here's what you'll need to recreate it:
2 ounces of Plantation pineapple rum
1 ounce of Luxardo maraschino liqueur
1 ounce of lime juice
Combine all ingredients in a shaker packed with ice and shake vigorously until the shaker feels almost too cold to handle. Aim for a well-diluted, frothy texture by shaking forcefully for longer than you might expect. Pour into a coupe glass, add a lime wheel as garnish, and enjoy while gazing intently at some crocuses. They never fail to lift the spirits.
