Taco Bell is offering free tacos every Tuesday for the next five weeks. Just visit any Taco Bell location on August 15, 22, 29, and September 5 and 12, and ask for a 'free Doritos Locos Taco.' No purchase required.
This is part of the 'Free Taco Tuesday' marketing stunt/legal drama that’s been unfolding all summer, involving a trademark dispute with Taco John’s over the rights to the phrase 'Taco Tuesday.' I only took notice when free food was involved.
Taco John’s has 'bravely' decided to drop their trademark claim in 49 states, allowing anyone to use the phrase 'Taco Tuesday,' meaning any restaurant can now claim 'hey, it’s Taco Tuesday' whenever they please.

How to snag free or discounted food from other Mexican restaurants on September 12
I’m not a fan of jumping on viral marketing bandwagons for massive food corporations, but I do love free tacos, so I might just take advantage of the other offer Taco Bell and DoorDash rolled out.
On September 12, Taco Bell is offering to refund up to five million dollars worth of orders for anyone using DoorDash to get Mexican food from participating stores. Full details aren’t out yet, so you’ve got time to plan your taco fest for mid-September.
Taco Bell and Taco John’s charitable contributions
Taco Bell and the Taco Bell Foundation have pledged one million dollars to 'support young people who make, sell, eat, and celebrate tacos.' (Which, let's be honest, could mean pretty much every young person, right?). This is in response to Taco John’s $40,000 donation to Children of Restaurant Employees (CORE) via the Taco Bell Foundation.
