A well-made Irish coffee is a thing of beauty, but it’s typically served hot, making it less ideal for the warm days left in summer. To prepare a boozy coffee that you can savor year-round, all you need is cold coffee and a splash of sweetened condensed milk.
This might sound familiar, as it shares similarities with Vietnamese iced coffee, which is often paired with rum. Lately, I've been gravitating toward whiskey, but the wonderful thing about this drink is you can swap in any dark spirit of your choice, and it’ll likely taste amazing. With Irish whiskey, you get a perfect balance of Irish coffee vibes with subtle hints of grown-up chocolate milk. Here's how to make it:
3 ounces of cold brew or any strong, cold coffee
2 ounces Irish whiskey (or any whiskey, or dark rum)
1 ounce sweetened condensed milk
Add all the ingredients to a cocktail shaker, fill with ice, and shake until the shaker feels too cold to hold. Strain the mixture into a coupe glass and enjoy.
