We’re right in the heart of apple season, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Beyond enjoying meals full of crisp apple slices (paired perfectly with some great cheese), I’ve also been adding these seasonal fruits to salads, desserts, and even cocktails.
My current favorite apple-inspired drink combines sweet, sparkling cider with smoky Scotch and the rich, herbal notes of Benedictine. It’s like taking a swig of apple pie—if apple pie were stronger and had a kick. The best part? It’s simple to whip up and could even be built directly in the glass as long as you’ve pre-chilled everything. To make this seasonal cocktail, you’ll need:
2 ounces Scotch
1/2 ounce Benedictine
3 ounces Martinelli’s sparkling cider
If you haven’t pre-chilled your ingredients, pour the Scotch and liqueur into a mixing glass with ice and stir until cold. Strain into a coupe glass, top with cider, and enjoy while strolling through an apple orchard—or any equally charming, seasonal activity. (A cozy scarf is optional, but it definitely sets the mood, even indoors!)
