Minecraft is a sandbox game packed with special features that players often don't fully explore. When gathering resources, players can use the locate command to find the exact location and easily teleport to it, making resource collection much simpler.
How to use the locate command to find structures and landmarks in Minecraft
1. Enable the Cheat feature in Minecraft
1.1. For Minecraft Java Edition
- Before creating a new world, make sure to set Allow Cheats to ON, as shown in the image below.
- If you’re already in a Minecraft Java world and haven’t enabled Cheats, press the ESC key to open the Game Menu, then select Open to LAN.
- Set Allow Cheats to ON and click Start LAN World to begin using the locate command to find structures and landmarks in Minecraft.
1.2. For Minecraft Bedrock Edition
- Go to Game Settings => select the Game tab and scroll down. Under the Cheats section, turn Activate Cheats to ON as shown in the illustration. Then, enter the game and use the locate command to find structures and landmarks in Minecraft.
2. How to use the Locate command in Minecraft to find structures and landmarks
2.1 For Minecraft Java Edition
- First, press T on the keyboard and enter the command:
+ "/locate
+ "/locatebiome
- You will then receive the coordinates of the nearest structure or biome. At this point, simply move to those coordinates or use the teleport command to reach them (see the next section).
2.1 For Minecraft Bedrock Edition
- Minecraft Bedrock Edition is available across multiple platforms including Windows, Android, iOS, and Switch. On PC, use the Switch key to open the command input dialog. On Android and iOS, tap the Chat icon at the top of the screen. Once the chat box appears, enter the Locate command:

+ There is no /locatebiome command in this version like in Java Edition.

4. Teleport command in Minecraft to structures and biomes
4.1 For Minecraft Java Edition
- Press T and enter the /locate command to find the structure you want. For example, "/locate jungle_pyramid" will find the Jungle Temple.
- The coordinates of the Jungle Temple will be provided by the system.
- Now, press T to open the chat box, select the Jungle Temple coordinates, and press Enter. You will automatically teleport to the structure's location.
4.2 For Minecraft Java Edition
- Open the Chat box and enter the /locate
- Press Enter and you will receive the coordinates of the target location.
- Next, manually enter the command "/tp x y z", where:
+ X: the first number (e.g., 280)
+ Y: replaced with the "~" symbol to teleport to a safe height.
+ Z: the second number (e.g., "-1336")
==> "/tp 280 ~ -1336"
- Press Enter and you will be teleported to that location.
