Today, there are many ways to make merit, whether online or offline, you can always offer your contributions. These include donating alms, funding coffins, providing scholarships, supporting hospitals, contributing to temple construction, and much more, all considered acts of kindness. Recently, Dr. Chang Tosaporn revealed the merits gained from building a temple or ordination hall. He shared the following insights on the merit it brings.
The ordination hall, or 'ubosot', is a crucial structure within a temple, as it serves as the place where monks perform sacred ceremonies. Originally, monks would conduct rituals in open spaces, demarcated by the 'sima' boundary.
However, as the number of monks increased, and due to the central presence of significant Buddha images in the ordination hall, which draws many visitors for worship and merit-making, the hall evolved into a permanent structure, often beautifully decorated.
The merit gained from constructing a temple is as follows:
- A harmonious and happy family life.
- Progress and success in life.
- A person with concentration, mindfulness, and wisdom.
- A person endowed with wealth and prosperity.
Ultimately, making merit depends on faith and a pure heart. The results will manifest accordingly. Dr. Chang said this.
