Detailed Steps
Resetting Your SmartCast TV

Press the MENU button on your remote. Alternatively, you can use the cog icon button.
- If your TV has a black screen or you're without a remote, refer to the power cycling section first.

Select Admin & Privacy. On certain models, you may need to navigate to System or All Settings before seeing this option.

Click on Reset to Factory Settings. Remember, performing a factory reset will erase all your personalized settings and preferences.

Input the PIN. If prompted, enter the PIN. If you don't see this request, skip ahead.
- If you've never set a PIN or can't recall it, try the default code: 0000.

Choose Reset, then confirm by selecting OK. This will finalize your choice to reset the TV.
- The TV will shut down and restart automatically, ready for you to set it up once more.
Resetting Older TV Models

Press the MENU button on your remote. This will bring up your TV's settings.
- If the screen is black or you're unable to use the remote, check out the power cycling section first.

Choose Help. On VIA Plus models, this may be labeled as System.

Choose Clear Memory and press OK. This could also appear as Reset and Admin.

Choose Reset TV to Factory Defaults and press OK. This option may also be listed as Clear Memory/Factory Defaults.

Enter the PIN and press OK. If you don't remember setting a PIN, try the default PIN code: 0000.
- Your TV will automatically turn off and restart, ready to be set up again.
Power Cycling the TV

Switch off the TV. This is a useful step if your TV screen is black or if you don't have the remote.
- If you're using a remote but it isn't responding, Cathey suggests checking if the batteries are correctly connected and free from corrosion or white powder. If you see this, replace the batteries.
- Power cycling can help reset your TV and restore its functionality. Once it's powered on again, you can proceed with a factory reset using the methods above.

Unplug all connected cables. This includes any HDMI cables, soundbars, streaming sticks, or Ethernet cables.

Unplug the TV from the power source. If it's connected to a power strip, make sure to unplug the entire strip as well.

Press and hold the power button on your TV for 10 seconds. This button is typically located on the front corner or the back of the TV.
- This step helps to discharge any remaining power from the TV.

Wait for at least 5 minutes. This ensures that all power has been fully drained from the TV.

Reconnect everything. Plug the TV back in and attempt to turn it on. If it powers up, you can proceed with a factory reset using the steps above. If it doesn't, repeat the process until it works.
