The iOS 14 update introduces a new feature called the App Library. This utility allows you to perform helpful actions such as removing apps from the home screen and improving screen organization efficiency. After updating your operating system, new apps will be downloaded directly to the App Library instead of the home screen. So, how do you move apps to the home screen? This article provides a guide on adding apps to your iPhone's home screen, relocating apps, and changing the default download location for new apps.
StepsAdd apps from the App Library

Open the App Library. Swipe left on the home screen until you see apps categorized by functionality.

Locate the app you want to add to the home screen. You can browse through app categories or use the search bar to find the app.

Tap and hold the app icon. Release your finger when a menu appears on the screen.

Select Add to Home Screen. This option is usually located in the middle of the menu.
- The app icon will appear in the first available spot on your home screen.
Move apps on the home screen

Tap and hold the app icon you want to move. All apps and widgets on the screen will start to jiggle.

Drag and drop the app you want to move. Keep your finger on the screen until the app is in the desired location.

Tap Done or the Home button (if your phone has one). Apps and widgets will stop jiggling after this action.
Change the default download location for new apps

Open Settings. This is the app with a gear icon on a light gray background.

Tap Home Screen. You'll find this option in the third menu group next to the home screen icon.

Select an option. If you prefer not to use the App Library, choose
Add to Home Screen.
- If you select Add to Home Screen, every app downloaded from the App Store will appear in the first available spot on your home screen.
