Detailed Instructions
How to Upload a Resume Using Job Settings

Navigate to the Jobs tab. You can find it by clicking the Jobs section at the top of the LinkedIn webpage.

Click on Preferences. It’s on the left side of the screen, marked by a menu icon with three lines.

Click on Resumes and Application Data. You will find this option under the section titled My Qualifications.

Click on Upload Resume. This option appears beneath the Share Resume Data with Recruiters section. You do not need to enable this setting to upload your resume.
- LinkedIn allows uploads of .doc, .docx, and .pdf formats, with a maximum file size of 5MB.
How to Upload a Resume When Applying for a Job

Browse through job listings you want to apply for. You can either click the Jobs tab to find available positions or search directly for a company and view their job openings on their LinkedIn page.

Click on the Easy Apply button. If the listing shows an Apply button instead of Easy Apply, you'll need to apply through the employer’s own website rather than directly on LinkedIn.

Complete any required application fields. Each job application might have different requirements, so follow the on-screen instructions to fill out any mandatory information.

Click on Upload Resume under the "Resume (optional)" section. If you're not logged into LinkedIn, you'll be prompted to upload a resume.
- Resumes must be in .doc, .docx, or .pdf format, and LinkedIn recommends keeping the file size under 2MB.

Click on Submit Application. Your resume will be included with your application and sent to the employer.
Using a Previously Uploaded Resume

Look for a job you’re interested in. You can browse job listings by clicking the Jobs tab or search for a specific company and explore the job openings available on their LinkedIn page.

Click the Easy Apply button. If the listing shows an Apply button instead of Easy Apply, you will need to apply through the employer’s website rather than LinkedIn.

Complete the necessary fields. Every job application might have unique requirements, so make sure to follow the prompts and fill out any required information.

Select a recently uploaded resume from the "Resume" section. LinkedIn allows you to store up to four of your most recent resumes, which you can choose from when applying for jobs.

Click on Submit Application. To reuse this resume, just apply to another job and follow the same process to select it again.
Adding a Resume to Your LinkedIn Profile

Navigate to your profile. You can do this by clicking on your profile picture at the top of the page.

Click on Add Profile Section. This button is located beneath your name and profile picture.

Open the Recommended section. This is the second section, positioned between Core and Additional.

Click on Add Featured. This is the first option at the top of the list.

Click the plus icon. You will find it next to the Featured header on the page.

Upload your resume. Career coach James Pak suggests that uploading your resume as featured media will place it prominently at the top of your profile, making it visible to anyone who views your LinkedIn page.
- Note that resumes uploaded to your profile cannot be used for job applications. To use your resume for job applications, follow one of the previously mentioned methods.

If you don't have a resume but have completed your LinkedIn profile, you can download your profile as a resume. Go to your profile, click More beneath your name and profile picture, then select Save to PDF. To make sure your resume is comprehensive, resume expert Amber Leima advises that you fill in your skills section. "Ensure your Skills list is current, including all relevant skills for your current or desired job. The more detailed and specific, the better, as long as they’re accurate," says Leima.
